Have been here a few times. Only twice to dine in for soup and multiples to pick up eggrolls to go. Food is delish but those eggrolls, oh my!! I feel like with all things, everything was better back in the day. Had these recently and they were still so tasty!!

Inflation is real. I hadn’t been in here in 3 plus years so man oh man have I been living under a rock.

Anyway, the food is still pretty solid (been here several times in the last decade). It’s mildly westernized bc the slice of carrots, radish are pretty thick by Vietnamese standards (note: I was in HCMC back in March 2025—HoChiMinh City). The chargrilled pork was 1/4th charred compared to the motherland but still solid in flavor. $14 for chicken spring rolls? Seemed pricey but they are super thick so not as shocking. I could have ordered two for $7.

Overall, $19 for a plate is pricey for the Westbank and would have thought I was uptown where rent is 2x. Idk. The volume is good for the price but I guess inflation is warping my perception. Overall, I still enjoyed the food and recommend them still esp if this is the new norm.

I’ve been going to Tan Dinh since 1995 when I was in college and now my daughter gets to enjoy it as well. They have the best PHO & the Crack Rolls will have ya coming back. Everything on the menu is Hell’s Kitchen worthy!

One word: Phenomenal!
I cannot express how happy I am with this place. The food is incredibly tasty and the portions are beyond huge. Either come starving or be ready to go home with lots of leftovers. I had the sweet crispy rice with chicken and loved the tenderness of the chicken paired with the crunchy rice. It was excellent. Come try a relaxed, local joint with great food and leave super happy like I did.

What I look forward to the most about Gretna. The pho is perfection, duck is delicious and shrimp spring rolls are the best! Oh, the chicken wings are to die for too!

I loved the food and employees. It was a laid back semi self serve environment. The employees were welcoming and helpful. The food was really fresh and flavorful. We ordered an appetizer, soup and entree and it was enough to share. If you’re more on the hungry side you probably want your own and it’s so good you may just want more. The environment was clean and full of good vibes.

“Spectacular, gimme 14 of em! Fabulous!”
In all seriousness, the best Vietnamese wings and ribs I’ve ever had, as well as the best Bon Bo Hue soup. Staff and owner are chill and always great. The seating is comfy and the atmosphere is relaxed. The jasmine boba tea is excellent. Pho around and find out for yourselves, it won’t disappoint!

After reading about Tan Dinh in the New York Times of all places. It was an article about the hidden gems of New Orleans. I knew that we had to give it a try. So, we headed to Gretna on the Westbank to dine Vietnamese style. Upon arriving, I could tell it was going to be good, there were all the signs of a good Vietnamese restaurant. The pungent smell of fish sauce, long row a table’s pushed together with a large family dining. Good enough for the whole family. As I watched the kids at the big table play air drums with their chop sticks, I looked over the menu items. The menu is vast, but I found it was translated well. We started off with some Shrimp Spring Rolls and Chicken Wings with a sweet chili sauce covering them. Both were exceptional and I probably could have taken a couple dozen of those wings home with me. That would have been a meal to itself. But we were here to try more than just the wings. I ordered a Bun Bowl of shrimp and pork with vegetables and vermicelli noodles. Charla ordered the short ribs. Both were very large and easily shareable between a few people. The food was delicious, and portions were large. If you have never tried Vietnamese food this would be the place to go. The menu is well done in English and Vietnamese and the waitress was very knowledgeable. So come hungry because you get a lot of food. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
