Great small town restaurant with friendly staff. Extensive sushi menu that won’t disappoints. Tried 6 different sushi’s and it totaled less then $60.

Excellent food & great service! The sushi is excellent! I wish they would add a bento box to the menu. The rice combos are my favorite. Reasonably priced and comes with soup and salad. The salad was very fresh. Anything with teriyaki, such as the tempura shrimp, is exceptional. Nice atmosphere and drinks refilled without asking. Perfect! Highly recommend if you are around downtown.

I rarely write a bad review because I know how important good reviews are to a business. Unfortunately, this review needed to be done. After years of coming to Taiko for the best sushi around I have to say this was my last time visiting. The service and quality of food has drastically declined.

Your front counter service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. An apology for not having our order correct or giving us what we asked for would have been nice. Every time I order sushi anywhere I ask for extra eel sauce and spicy Mayo. I’ll pay for it if needed. I was told no. Our other order of a rice noodle bowl was wrong. We got rice on soup. Been coming for years and he actually argues with me about what we wanted.

Simple apology would have been nice. Instead we were met with rudeness and it was just unacceptable.

We cannot and will not pay this kind of money for high quality sushi and not expect exceptional service and quality. Goodbye Taiko we will travel to someplace else and spend our money where our value as a customer is more appreciated.

Best sushi in town, taste wise and quality wise. Everywhere else uses minced fish for their spicy tuna and it doesn’t taste like tuna. They use actual pieces of fish I can TELL are fish. They have GREAT value as far as price goes. For the same price elsewhere I get small, minced cat food in the form of 6 rolled pieces. Here I get beautifully made and presented, tasty rolls and I get 8 pieces usually. I’m giving my honest review here, after trying everything in town.

Closest to authentic, everywhere else is Americanized.

My only issue is they need to fumigate. I understand bugs are everywhere, even if you don’t see them but I’d rather my waiter not have 6 legs. =(

In hopes to save others I give this advise. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY! My fiancee and I were really excited about eating here, it had been recommended to us by several friends and we just moved here from Orlando. Now my fiancee is DEATHLY allergic to shellfish, shrimp, crab, imitation crab, lobster, ect. We have never in our entire time living in Orlando or Miami have been told that the chef REFUSES to alter any order even for health concerns. We even offered to pay extra for any alterations, the chef still refused. This cut the menu down about 75%, we asked if we ordered a sushi platter and just had the chef not make the rolls with shellfish (which cuts the sushi platter in half) he said we would still be charged full price on the dish. All this communication ran back and forth between the chef and our server, she was great and tried everything in her power to help us but was stuck between an unprofessional chef/manager and a hard place. We paid for our drinks even leaving the young lady with a tip. Absolutely ridiculous, I will never return to this establishment and I will never recommend them to anyone.

So in short if you have a food allergy or dietary restriction DO NOT go here, the chef will make you feel like its your fault for having an allergy.

Sushi was pretty good, got some variety and it was much better than another place we’ve tried locally and much cheaper than places not local. Cooked foods, not sure how fresh it is. I clearly heard a microwave in use which is not what you’d hope for when ordering shu mai and other hot dishes but they tasted OK. There was a cockroach running around on the ordering table trying unsuccessfully to climb the pen jar. When our order was ready the employee grabbed it with his hands. Hope he washed them. I’ve never seen a bug running around a restaurant so that was gross but we didn’t get sick so there’s that.

Used to actually enjoy eating here. In the past had very good experiences but the past couple of time have been noticing the health standards have went way down hill the past two times I have been in there there have been bugs crawling around on the tables , that the gentleman making the food, places to go orders on. I had heard horror stories from past employees but always tried to give Taiko the benefit of the doubt because I had never witnessed it for myself but the past couple of times has done it in for me.

Great restaurant. Love the sushi (trump roll and Cookeville roll). I hate when idiots give bad reviews because of cry baby stuff. Not every restaurant changes the stuff on their menu just for you princess get over it. Cockroaches are in every old building how many did you crunch into? And what if the chef did accommodate your shellfish allergy (by the way probably not wise to go to a sushi restaurant genius) but forgot to wipe down one utensil. You’ll sue him in a heartbeat!!! I don’t blame the man. And I’ve been a restaurant manager and I wouldn’t want to talk to you idiots either. Great restaurant! Great food!

The restaurant itself looks nice but the fish is not very fresh. I ordered rainbow roll and Salmon there looked like plastic. Probably it was frozen before. My friend ordered noodles with chicken in curry sauce. The portion was big but the chicken in it was not soft. It was hard to chew it.
If you like rolls I do not recommend this place.

One of our favorite restaurants in the area. Great service and food. Love the Trump Roll (not named for our President) and fried rice. Wish they still served cucumber salad. Many choices, even if you think you don’t like sushi.
