Food-wise, the chicken taco was the best one, but be warned, it’s very spicy. The beef taco was also good and comes with a nice little juice on the side. The fish taco was a bit disappointing in taste. As for the quesadilla, it tasted good but didn’t feel worth the price compared to the tacos.
The dishes were spicier than we expected, so don’t hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations if you’re not used to spicy food!
In terms of quantity, we’d recommend ordering about 3 items per person.
The atmosphere is incredible and very immersive, and the good heating was really appreciated during the cold winter. We also easily found a table for 5 people at 9:30 PM, which was a nice surprise.
Bonus: it’s located on Cornelia Street, so it’s a perfect stop for Swifties ✨
Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting. The meat in the tacos was noticeably dry and overcooked, which made it tough and took away from what could’ve been great texture and flavor. The sauces were decent in that they added some taste and helped soften the dryness a little but they lacked depth and didn’t bring the bold, vibrant flavors you would hope to find in a great taco.
Service was friendly and polite, but on the minimal side. Everyone was nice, just not very attentive or present after the food arrived.
Overall, it’s a beautiful place with good energy, but the food needs improvement to match the atmosphere. With better-prepared meats and more flavorful sauces, it could easily become a standout spot. For now, it’s more of a place to enjoy the vibe than the tacos.
The fried fish taco was actually pretty good — crispy shell, fresh toppings, and a nice tangy sauce. The other tacos were just okay; a bit dry and under-seasoned for me.
Come here if you’re into the vibe. Worth it for some cute pics, a refreshing fish taco, and an easy summer lunch.
Known for its authentic tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and refreshing drinks like watermelon juice and piña coladas, Tacombi offers a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
Their menu highlights include tacos al pastor, baja crispy fish tacos, and corn esquites. The tortillas are made fresh daily, preserving the traditional flavors of Mexico.
Tacombi has several locations in New York City, including spots in Nolita, Flatiron, and the Financial District. Each location maintains the same commitment to quality and authenticity, with friendly service and a casual dining experience.
Recently tacombi has started using a payment platform called Sunday. It’s a little square on the table and the server told us it’s an easy way to pay with Apple Pay. We were charged an extra $2 feefor using the platform. The additional $2 fee is not mentioned on the Sunday app, was not mentioned by the server and only appears after the receipt has been sent.
After having so many great experiences at this location, it feels scammy to charge an additional $2 to pay on top of a tip.
