This 4 star rating is based on our overall experience. Off the beaten path, not in the tourist areas of Savannah. Had heard about this place from a friend, so had to try it out. We had to knock off a star for the cleanliness and appearance. It appears to be an older place that may have been here for awhile. Cute place, colorful decor, pleasant and helpful staff. Found floor was slippery, not sure if it was the coating on the floor, we had really good traction shoes, but felt like I could slip at anytime on the floor, almost felt like if they mopped the water they used had an oil in it. The ceiling tiles looked liked they had some water leaks and some mold on them. I am not usually particular about the tiles, but if you put that much effort to have a nice appearance, you would be attentive to the ceiling also. But we did not go there for the building, we came for the food. So we had the meatloaf with the glaze and liver and onions. Meatloaf was a nice size portion w/ a mildly sweet glaze similar to like a chutney. It was a sandwich, but ate it with fork and knife. It was not the typical dense brick meatloaf, it was lighter with a very enjoyable taste. Not heavy, but easy to chew and enjoy the flavors. Side was sweet potato fries, come on, if you are at a restaurant named “Sweet Potatoes Kitchen” you have to have something sweet potato, unfortunately there really wasn’t anything special about them. They were sprinkled with possibly a mixture of brown sugar and other things to add some sweetness to it. The liver and onions were good, I get weird cravings every once in awhile and it happened to be on this trip. Nicely sauteed onions on thin strips of liver, not overdone, good flavor. Sides sweet potato w/ butter pecan butter, and cabbage which i think was a special side for the day. I enjoyed the sweet potato w/ butter pecan, not too sweet. The cabbage had a nice flavor to it and was not too soft or watery. The biscuit, was a biscuit. Nothing special. We did save room for the banana pudding. It was good, but not sure if I would order again. The wafers were crispy, real bananas in there. It was sweet, little airy for me. Not sure if they mix the whip w/ the pudding. I kinda like mine separated. It was good, but I think I would try something else. We enjoyed our time there and the food, other people’s food looked good, people seemed very happy with their orders. We would enjoy going back and trying other items.

If you’re looking for authentic southern cooking and hospitality, this is the place!! We are from Pennsylvania and wanted the above, so we decided to give this place a try. It exceeded our expectations! Everyone was very friendly with a “Welcome Y’all!” Our food was delicious and reasonably priced for the large portions. Don’t leave without the famous banana pudding as tried by Man vs Food!! It was fantastic. We are already planning our next visit!

Ok so the food here is straight up incredible! Numerous choices and sides. The Banana Pudding is the best we have ever had! Only reason I didn’t award five stars on the actual location is due to wear and tear. Not the most well kept interior but that doesn’t bother you, this place is fantastic!

Staff was amazing and got us seated quickly. They are very busy so you could have a wait. Daily special was fried chicken and looked good. I had the gumbo and it was fantastic. Wife had the jerk pork chop and it too was so well seasoned. We will visit on our next trip.

I can’t rave about this place enough. Out of our large party, we covered half the menu. Every dish was amazing! We did try this place 2 days in a row. We came as they opened for Lunch and just before closing for dinner. I can attest that no matter the time you come, the service is outstanding!! The banana pudding is to die for as well!

I ordered the peach BBQ chicken and it was absolutely delicious! It was so tender, it fell off the bone. For $14 you get a thigh, drumstick, wing, and breast. I also got the sweet potato fries and roasted brussel sprouts. Excellent excellent excellent! And the banana pudding is the best you will ever taste in your entire life. I highly recommend! You are in for a treat.

Came early to best the crowd. It’s hidden from the street, but that does not stop people from coming. Our server was wonderful. Food was delicious. Will definitely come back.

This place is AWESOME. The food was out of this world with flavor. We had a GREAT server by the name of Karleigh, who was very sweet and hospitable. She suggested the special, so we ordered the country chicken special with 2 sides. PLUS an Xtra entrée (Shrimp), since this was our 1st time in(or we are just greedy ‍♂️). At any rate, we were not disappointed. Now from a customer service standpoint, if there were 10 stars, they would’ve achieved them all. I mean from the very time we opened the door we were bombarded with an overwhelming sense of southern hospitality from everyone, no questions. This place was very “homey”. Truthfully even before we entered the establishment, we ran into a woman named Liz outside, who was simply wonderful! After being seated this woman even came to our table and told us she noticed my wife hadn’t completely closed our car door. She then asked for the keys and offered to lock it herself . I said, “wow!Either she’s management, part owner, or we’re being carjacked” . Needless to say all was good she’s just wonderful. But the only thing we were upset about was Mac and Cheese is only served on Tues. and Thurs. (I believe) and we were there on a Friday . However their Famous Banana Pudding made up for it. That being said, we will be back!

Just got off a plane and wanted a satisfying Savannah meal. My parents recommended this wonderful restaurant. The food was so good, like great home cooking. I got Cod, Brussel sprouts, beets, and baked sweet potato. The Cod was moist and buttery. The Brussel Sprouts were some of the best I’ve had. The beets were pickled and there were enough for two people. Cute place. Not fancy…just homey. Excellent service too! Loved it!
