What a fun restaurant with a cool vibe! It feels like a fun hangout spot for all the hottest surfers in California! Staff are all young and energetic. It has got some cool decorations throughout the restaurant. Came on a week day so no wait for us. Huge portion!!!! I ordered an ahi tuna salad and it came with two toasts. The balsamic sauce on top of the tuna was on point. Clam chowder soup was very delicious! The menu was pretty overwhelming. I will definitely come back and try something else.

The location is convenient. There are a lot of birds trying to constantly steal your food. The service needs improvement. All of the young ladies behind the register were just hanging out, brushing their hair, not greeting the customers. When I received my food and coffee at my table, I asked for sugar and the girl said I had to go inside to get it. She immediately turned around and walked back to continue chatting behind the counter.

Some family came down from Northern Ca. to visit the UCSD campus. It’s a maybe for my super smart niece Matty. The next day they went to Swami’s garden. One of the best places to visit if your in the area. Beautiful and serene. Then to Swami’s restaurant and got quite a treat. With the fresh veggies and fruit everyone was happy with their meal out on the patio.

Headed home from LA, looking for a late brunch, we found ourselves walking into Swami’s Cafe for the 1st time, (we’ve lived in San Diego 5 years). I can’t believe it took this long after hearing all the positive reviews and learning about this staple in San Diego. I ordered the special, Lobster Benedict and a coffee. Of which, I was confronted with about 7 different options! I chose the medium roast before immediately spotting my ideal spot to enjoy my meal. I had enough time to drink my coffee in their well lit patio, surrounded by plants and a beautiful water feature, It was peaceful and happy. My food was promptly served and was absolutely delicious. A perfect brunch on a late Sunday evening.

There are several locations in the area including one in Oceanside where we were staying. However, we wanted to go to the original one on the 101.

Meal was very bland. I usually get the lobster benedict, at this location it didn’t taste very good. My boyfriend got the ABC burger that he usually gets and he said it was also very bland. Overhyped for sure. Also forgot our smoothie.
