Truly amazing fish and sushi. My only complaint is that it took a bit long to get our order and food but well worth the wait

This place used to have the best sushi in town and they still do. Unfortunately the slow service in the kitchen ruined the meal. This is the second dining experience we’ve had where it has taken over 2 hours to eat. We would order Nigiri and they would come out 1 every 20 minutes. We gave it a second chance for our friend birthday and had to leave before the last 3 items were ready due to it taking over 2 hours. The servers were nice enough but they didn’t really do much to make the whole experience better except give us lots of excuses, including blaming us for not coming in earlier even though our reservation was for 8pm. The meal was ruined because of all of this. Amazing quality and delicious but the service was abysmal. The servers also forgot multiple things we ordered. We won’t be back until this gets fixed if at all.

Oh my my my. Sushi in the Raw will ruin you for sushi. They’ve got a great origin story, and it’s really special that Nevada city has a sushi restaurant of this caliber. Something you might only expect to find in a big city it’s so high quality. It’s like there are unicorns in the back making love into the secret sauce that goes into all this exquisite food. Every time I come here I feel as though I have partaken in a great secret. Favorite dish is the truffle sashimi, the quail eggs, heavens spoons, and all the shooters. Plus all the servers are great- you can tell they love working there because they know how special the food is. What a treasure. My favorite dining experience of my life. Truly ceremonial grade yummy.

My review would be in complete agreement with Electra Redd’s review, to the letter. I split my time between Nevada City and LA. There is not a comparable sushi place to Nobu, Sugarfish or Katana here and that’s to be expected. That being said. Sushi in the Raw is very good, the best between here and San Francisco, except for their refusal to sell Ahi tuna. But then we’re in California, everyone’s got a find a cause to support. Their’s is apparently the plight of the tuna.

Food was good. Service not so much. Only saw waitress one time. Second glass of wine game with the check. Still charged us even though we sent it back. No napkins even though we asked. Terrible. A little more service for a $100 dinner for 2.

The rolls were terrible. Rice was certainly not fresh. Trying to be innovative, the only thing they have achieved is a mixture of strange and unappetizing flavors and textures. And the roll called smiling Buddha should be banned. Inedible.

This might be the best sushi I have ever eaten, and I have been to a lot of sushi places. It is definitely a higher end sushi restaurant in terms of higher food quality, lower food quantity, better and more diverse ingredients, more elegant presentation, and higher price…but it is a worthwhile experience!
