We went on Valentine’s Day knowing it would probably be a crazy wait. They said it would be a 2 hour wait, so we walked somewhere nearby for a drink and ordered Sushi Guys takeout and it was actually done quicker than expected! The sushi was delicious! The fish was so fresh and the combinations were unique and worked so well together.

I stopped in for lunch though ordered from the regular menu. This is a very unassuming, no frills spot when it comes to the tableware and interior, but wow, the sushi is truly legit. I ordered some of the a la carte omakase pieces — all were good with the hamachi and scallop as the personal favorites — and The City roll. While there, I spoke with one of the owners, who was great. It’s very small as the others mention, but the sushi was awesome. I would very highly recommend the place for the food, and I think the no frills element makes me like the place even more because they clearly focus on serving excellent sushi.

We walked 20 minutes to try this place because of the high rating and was truly disappointed and ended up getting another lunch right after.
There was no greeting from the owners behind the counter, even though we were the only guests. We eventually picked up the menus ourselves, only to find that the prices were higher than comparable places.
For $40, we got two rolls, paper plates, disposable chopsticks, two small bottles of water — and not a single smile. The rolls were bland. I honestly don’t understand how this place has such high ratings. Definitely a spot to avoid.

I’m a recently diagnosed celiac who has been struggling with finding gluten free sushi roll options, limiting me to mostly nigiri and sashimi. Sushi Guys not only offers fresh sashimi and nigiri options but a number of their rolls can be made gluten free! This usually means removing all of the sauces and tempura at other places. Sushi Guys replaced the sauce with GF options and the tempura with crispy rice puffs!
My husband (not GF) said the GF Castle roll is one of the best rolls he’s ever had.

Amazing sushi spot! Their house Makis are divine! Great selection on pretty much everything. Lowkey a hidden gem! Definitely has been added to my top sushi spots easily.

Such a cute place owned and run by an Asian couple(?). The server/owner/hostess was so sweet and let me eat some of nigiris even though I originally asked my order to be a takeout order. So glad I ate the nigiris on the spot while fresh because they were really good with creative flavors. I also noticed they had a good list of vegan sushi options. Wish I was a lived closer because I would’ve come here everyday!

The wait time was horrendous. We waited at our table for a very long time. However, the food was amazing! The ingredients tasted fresh.

Sushi guys is the best sushi takeout right now in Southie. No questions asked. They have super friendly and quick service but let’s talk about the food. They have great ratios of fish to rice and I like how you can actually taste the fish in the rolls and it’s not super chopped up. I also love the spicy crab avocado salad – it’s not on the menu yet but hopefully it will be soon. LOVE THIS SPOT!

Just had sushi for the first time here with my girlfriend and it was absolutely amazing. The service was lovely and the food was amazing. My favorite was the ikura maki that came with the sushi deluxe we ordered. We also had some pork gyoza with a delicious sauce. Absolutely ordering from here or visiting in person again.
