09/27/2025 – Haven’t been to Sumburger in Chillicothe, OH in a long time and decided to stop by after visiting one of my dearest friends. I’ve called in my order and was instructed to come through the drive-thru window in 15-20 minutes. Once I arrive, the staff member was very friendly and nice. My order was ready. Provided the payment received my order and receipt. I ordered the double Sumburger Platter with crinkle cut fries and they’re delicious coleslaw. Good spot with delicious burgers and other food items. Enjoy!

An institution. The Sumburger is an icon if you ask me. I’ve been eating it since I was 5 years old. I’ll always miss the original, drive-in location, but I’m glad it’s still going strong at this one!

Food was made to order. Didn’t take long. Burger and fries, very good. The special sauce was nice with shredded lettuce. Similar to Mac sauce but better… and not as messy. There was a classic old school vibe that was cool and unexpected since it was my first time there. It was a good experience on my lunch break. The locals know this place is great, I will definitely return the next time I’m in Chillicothe.

If you love Philly cheese steaks I would highly recommendthis place. The bread was not my type of bread to put on a Philly but the meat was good and they put just enough portions on it to make it a good Philly. Price was reasonable and the Philly was loaded. Great environmentas well!!

Prices have gone up quite a bit, but the consistency is still there. The atmosphere seems more sterile at the new location.

I love a good independent burger restaurant. I’ve only been here once, and honestly the burger wasn’t as good as I’d expect for a place that focuses on burgers, and the fries were a little plain. Also the sauce wasn’t my thing, and it had chunks in it. The inside is nice and welcoming with interesting decor. I’d definitely go back and give it anither chance if I’m in the area.

Revisited Sumburger with a friend who was visiting from out of town. She got a classic Sumburger meal, and she really liked it. This place does not skimp on the quantity of food in their meals! My friend only ate half of her burger and half of her fries. She boxed up her leftovers and enjoyed a second meal from them the following day. Likewise, I ordered the tenderloin sandwich meal and also only consumed half of it during our visit. I am NOT a dainty eater. The portions are very generous!
In my review below of a previous meal at this location four years ago, I mention the creamy coleslaw. Coleslaw is one of those items that is very subjective. While my friend found Sumburger’s slaw too sweet for her liking, I am happy to say that I still find it just right. It’s one of the reasons that keeps me coming back.

Great Chili Dogs!
Although Sumburger is known, of course, for its namesake Sumburger, try their chili dogs. Not too spicy, not too sweet, the chili sauce is just right! The hotdog itself has a nice snap to it and tastes great on its own.
In addition to the spectacular chili dogs, we also ordered a bacon cheeseburger platter. If you haven’t been to Sumburger lately, the crinkle-cut fries and creamy coleslaw that are standard with platter meals are still as delicious as you remember. The burger and the bacon on the bacon cheeseburger were cooked beyond the point of any juiciness, which is why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5, but it was still tasty enough for me to devour the entire sandwich.
The staff is friendly and the restrooms are clean and well maintained. We will definitely be back soon.

The food has changed , honestly it’s just bad and dry .Did they change the sumburger sauce on the burgers ?It just doesn’t taste the same .
And for a very long time , sorry no milk shakes or ice cream of any type .
The music is that very old music which goes with the crowd that goes here .
And then they have a girl advertising carrying a tray like she is a waitress but you order at a counter , you seat yourself and you get up & get your food .
How is this an old school diner if you do everything yourself but cook it ?
It’s nothing like the bridge street memories I have .
