My African American mother recently went into 1601 Julian R Allsbrook Hwy, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 on 3/31 where she wanted to use a coupon in the paper. She stated that the coupon shared a 7.99 combo. She asked the cashier several times would her subs apply to the coupon which she was promised they were. When she got to ring up her price came to 18$. She asked Why was it that price if she had presented the coupon. The cashier was new so she grabbed they attention of the owner/ manager for help. The white owners words were ” Call the police”. My mother never raised her voice, threatened or cursed at the owner. She asked why would she call the police if she can fix the order. The owner stated that she had no time to deal with folks like her and stated she can either pay for the food or go to jail, My mother was confused because she had initially been told that the coupon applied. She then asked if another sub could be created that will go along with the coupon and the owner stated that she could but the cashier would still ring up the sub she provided along with the old one. My mother asked for the 1800 number and the owners name but she refused to give it to her stating that Its her restaurant so it does not matter if she knows her name or not because nothing can be down to her. It is absolutely embarrassing for my mom to be publicly humiliated and ridiculed over a price of a sandwich. Again, my mom is not confrontational at all, she is petite and apposes no threat to others, let alone an aggressive manger. She paid for the food, but stated that she refuses to eat there anymore do to her unfair treatment. This location has significantly went downhill. The manager/ owner kept stating that it was her store and nothing can be done to her. My mom has constantly paid her hard earned money at this store! I remember spending my childhood here grabbing cold cuts, however after the recent discrimination I REFUSE to spend my money at this location and I will leaving reviews letting others know. My mom is truthfully hurt by this encounter because being a black person and having the police called on you for very minimal issues can lead to a tragedy. Never would imagine my mom’s life being treated over the price of a sub.

The sandwich artist who made my subs made them very sloppy. Didn’t spread veggies throughout my footlong properly, and had a hard time closing and cutting my subs. Yall have to do better than that… at least the employees were nice though.

Clerks were literally high… no joke but took the girl 5 mins to try to separate the cheese to put in my sandwich… after she was able to get the second slice free, I had enough and told her she was too slow and left…

Was skipped over because they assumed my husband’s 2 subs were for both of us. Had to repeat myself. Put black olives even though I didn’t ask for them. Asked for lite jalapeno and they put too much, second time that’s happened

Very friendly employees, food was good, store was clean and had an A rating from an inspection listed, but it is oppresively hot in the store. Employee mentioned that the AC has been broken for 8 months and the owner still hasn’t fixed it. The franchisee should be ashamed of him/herself, it is 92 degrees today outside and nearly the same temp inside the store, the workers could have a heat stroke working in temps like that all day, and it’s bad for the customers too. I bet the AC at the franchisee’s house works and has never not worked for more than a few days while waiting on a repairman.
