We ordered brisket and we had different opinions on it. I say it was little bit dry and it could have been more tender like it was not from today, but the guys said it was very good! The portion was generous and the mashed potato was natural so I really liked it. I felt the green beans were a little overcooked and salty, but overall it was good. I would not recommend the cheesecake as it tasted dry and like it had been left on the fridge, uncovered. Staff was friendly, and the place was very clean.

Its Chicken Fried Steak was good. The gravy was the best. Got there close to closing time, so they were understandably trying to close up. But we come from out of town and my dad has fond memories eating at Stricklands with his high school football team. Homey decor, solid food, and their pies are GREAT!

Disappointed in the place. The brisket was a bad option, all fat and no flavor. The grill closes before the restaurant apparently. We had eaten but tried to order more and they wouldn’t serve it well before closing. It didn’t have to be a big deal, but the manager was very rude about it. The grilled fish was good.

Stopped in for breakfast and had their breakfast tacos. These were some of the best I’ve had. The in-house tortillas are excellent. Machacado egg, bacon egg and bean cheese all delicious and very reasonably priced. They brew both sweet and unsweetened tea.
They serve breakfast anytime. Eggs cooked the way you like it. Chicken Fried Steak is the best here.

Unfortunately, my recent dining experience was severely disappointing. Not only did the food not meet my expectations, but the service was also unfriendly. To make matters worse, I fell ill with food poisoning. There is significant room for improvement in both food quality and service standards.

Not the Stricklands I remember going to as a young one with my Dad on road trips from RGV to SA. Used to have the best CFS! They have the same old school vibe inside but they need to Fix the sub-par salad and go back to drawing board on Chicken Fried Steak (maybe thicker cubed steaks). Must have had some changes over the years. I’d give it another chance though. Good people serving and timeless atmosphere.
