Stresa has a pleasant atmosphere and attentive staff. Portions are generous, which is a definite plus. However, food quality is inconsistent. Some dishes lacked flavor and the mussel plate had a strong smell that didn’t quite work. Decent value, but not exceptional cuisine. Worth a visit, but manage your expectations.

OMG the best Italian food I have experienced. The service was amazing. And the desserts were out of this world. There was a wait to be seated however it was well worth it and the owners kept us updated on the delay. The pasta was incredible. The rice ball was so smooth and delicious. And the desserts were light and creamy. Run but first make a reservation to Stresa. We can’t wait to go back. And check out the real hunk of cheese at the entrance.

I had a wonderful Italian supper with my wife when we were in Manhasset celebrating our anniversary.
Simply put, Stresa was a fantastic restaurant.
You are given a lovely breadbasket, butter, and fresh cheese chunks as soon as you are seated.
A complimentary taste of a tiny rice ball was also provided by the chef.
Excellent food, flawless service, and a sophisticated ambience permeate the entire experience.
This is the location if you want to receive outstanding service.
My spouse and I had shrimp cocktails and artichokes hearts to start.
We had Bolognese made with chicken and veal as our entrée. The food is freshly made and incredibly excellent.
The owner, Tommy, was kind and made sure everything was in order. Thanks for a nice evening.

Stresa is one of the nicest Italian restaurants on the North Shore of Long Island. We went for my son’s birthday and all had a wonderful time. Everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere was perfect!

Stresa Restaurant – Review
Stresa Restaurant delivers classic Italian fine dining with elegant ambiance and attentive service. Signature dishes like the veal Milanese and house-made pasta showcase authentic Northern Italian flavors. The wine list is well-curated, and the presentation is refined. Ideal for date nights or special occasions. A timeless dining experience.

Walked into Stressa on a Wednesday afternoon at 12 noon sharp. The restaurant had approximately 3 tables seated. Not a single Wai staff was visible, waited by the front door for approximately 2 minutes when I grew tired and walked inside the restaurant to look for a staff member to be seated. I went into the back of the restaurant by the kitchen entrance and waited another 2 minutes before I was seen by anyone to be seated. The restaurant does a virtual menu via a QR code by the table side, to accommodate for safety practices due to the covid-19 virus. The wait staff brought out some warm rolls and breadsticks, the breadsticks appeared to be imported from Italy and were a decent appetizer with the whipped butter they brought out. The rolls were a bit lacking and were on the hard and stale side…there was a bit of a refrigerator taste to them. Onto the main dish, I ordered the parpadelle with porcini mushroom sauce. The sauce for this dish was quite delicious as there were diced and sautéed porcini mushrooms in this sweet sauce…as for the parpadelle. You could tell the pasta was fresh however I question the chef who prepared the pasta today as I found certain parts of the pasta to be undercooked. I like my pasta al dente any day of the week however today’s parpadelle were inedible due to it being too hard. I tried my best to ignore that part but it virtually ruined the harmony of the dish, the sauce/ragu was perfect if only the pasta matched it would have been a great dish. Ended the meal with a cup of coffee which was a nice way to start digesting after a hearty pasta dish, the coffee comes with some slices of a almond biscotti and accompany the coffee quite well. All in all I think the food could be so much better if they were more attentive to the detail of the cooking time of the pasta.

Perfect, Deb — here’s a strong version written from that perspective. It frames the outrage secondhand but makes it clear the reviewer has lost all trust in the restaurant:

I have been a regular at this restaurant for years, and until now I always recommended it to others. But after what happened to two dear friends of mine, I will never return.
These women have dined here faithfully for over four years. They had a reservation for 7:30, arrived early at 7:00, and still were not seated until 8:00 — while other parties who arrived later were shown to their tables ahead of them. No apology was offered, no explanation, and no effort was made to make things right.
My friends, who are 60 and 90 years old, left feeling blatantly disrespected and dismissed. To be treated this way after years of loyalty is inexcusable. It is appalling to know that a restaurant I once supported would show such disregard for two long-standing customers, simply because they are older women.
Loyalty should mean something. Respect should be a given. Sadly, this place has proven it values neither. I will never spend another dollar here, and I encourage others to think carefully before doing so.

Our evening was as good as imagined from this wonderful establishment. Tommy our host was amazing as the food and everything was spot on. I would give 6 stars to the food and wait staff. I will be returning often. I ordered 3 appetizers as I wanted to taste several items…artichoke heart medley, fresh stuffed figs with prosciutto and goat cheese and basalmic reduction. Pistachio glazed sea bass and osso bucco and risotto filled out our evening…I had leftovers reluctantly so I could try the dolce. Hats off to all involved and bon appetite to all…
