The Daingerfield is far more elegant and classy in design and decoration, while the Gideon Ridge Restaurant is the more casual, cozy, yet still upscale locale. While not everyone was dressed up, and I don’t know if there’s a dress code, it felt appropriate to be well-dressed at Daingerfield’s.
The Honey Butter Dinner Yeast Rolls were simply scrumptious, while the Wagyu Carpaccio was a complex mix of sweet, sour, and tangy (only get it if you like tartare though).
My wife and I have recently been splitting entrees on occasion, which worked out perfectly tonight, as the 8oz Tenderloin was just right for us. Perfectly cooked to medium rare and subtly seasoned, it was marvelous. The Silver Ghost Cabernet Sauvignon pairs with it marvelously.
For dessert, I ordered the Pumpkin-Chai Crème Brûlée, while my wife got the Chocolate Mousse S’Mores. We ended up swapping, as we each liked the other’s more. Both were wonderful, but I do think the Coffee Crème Brûlée at Gideon Ridge was better.
We met the chef, Mike, who’s apparently been there a very long time; he was friendly and welcoming. The service was perfect, with our waiter Quinn being attentive but never overdoing it.
We will most certainly do here in future visits, and we look forward to staying at the Daingerfield Resort, too.
The staff is excellent and watching them reminds me (in a good way) of The Bear on Hulu in 2024.
The yeast rolls are some of the best I’ve had though they are expensive as an appetizer. The Elk main course was perfectly cooked. The texture was firm but sliced easily and tasted a lot like a nice Rib Eye but without the marbling. The Elk was complemented by the best brussel sprouts I’ve ever had
The key lime pie we had last time wasn’t on the menu this time, unfortunately because that was excellent.
