***You do not have a server or someone serving you.
***You order online and upon entering you ring a doorbell so that the staff knows you are there to pick up your order.
The good- they are open late which gives you an option other than a pizza place. Convenient online ordering. Straight forward pick up.
The less than good-
the naan is store bought, overpriced, and tough to eat. The chicken tikka literally had 8 pieces of chicken, and a few pieces of bell pepper. I think I saw a piece of onion too. All of which are swimming in an ocean of sauce. They also included a small amount of rice.
The chicken 65 was dry and not much flavor.
The menu offers 3 different options for your dish. For example you can order the chicken tikka or you can create your own bowl.
If you create a bowl you choose either 1 or 2 protein choices.
If the regular menu option only included 8 pieces of chicken then I’m curious how many pieces of chicken you would get if you chose the single protein bowl. Do you only get 4 pieces?
The menu doesn’t explain any of the food and is very basic.
Overall it is a one and done for me. There are far better options for Indian food near by. The only thing they have on the competition is the fact that they are open late.
The samosas were the only good thing we got and the only things that had flavor and were cooked properly.
The chicken biriyani was not cooked well. It was undercooked and way too soft. There was little to no flavor and was not spicy at all. This was also the only type of biriyani on the menu.
The chicken 65 was too sweet and at the same time had little to no flavor. It was not spicy at all either.
The paratha was hard and really chewy?? We were not able to rip the pieces easily and it had a weird smell to it.
We also got 2 bottled drinks, which were overpriced for the size. One was 500ml the other was 300 ml both cost the same…
Overall I would not reccomend this place as it does not seem like an authentic Indian restaurant. Ive been to many and this was honestly bottom of the barrel. 🙁
STL Indian Kitchen always has really excellent food! My mom and I like to order Saag Paneer (spinach purée with cubes of goat cheese) and Butter Chicken (savory butter and tomato purée with chopped chicken), both of which come with containers of freshly made basmati rice. The portion sizes are great for the price, as well; a lot of places have raised their prices by too much (more than enough to cover inflation), but I feel like I’m getting a good amount of food for $12-$14. Next time I go (soon!), I’m gonna get some garlic naan to dip!
It’s not a sit-down place, so, in terms of “atmosphere”, it’s not dine-in, but it’s always clean and brightly lit, and the restrooms are well-maintained.
The service is usually pretty quick, with regards to when you pick up, from the time you place an order, and the staff are nice too! A lot of restaurants lately are rude or take an excessive amount of time to get your food to you, but I’ve had great experiences with the food, cleanliness, and service here.
I forgot to get pictures of the interior of the building, but I did take some of my mom’s Saag Paneer.
I did the make your own bowl with the basmati rice and my curry was the chicken korma and my other was paneer tikka masala. It was absolutely delightful and great flavor I’ve never had Indian food I loved so much. It was still steaming hot too when it came. And the price was super fair and I go t plenty of food. I couldn’t be happier.
Only thing is I didn’t care for the garlic nan too much but I’m weird about texture so that’s a me thing. Totally recommend!
The food was horrible really horrible. It tasted like Indian fast food/ inexpensive Indian frozen dinners. No flavor no character no standard. The sauce was runny and very red. It tasted of tomato paste. The chicken had no seasoning and was overcooked maybe even canned. The balsamic rice was overcooked and dry. The Naan I was charged $5 came out of a pack from Sam’s Club 10 for $5. Needless to say, I was really disappointed with this meal I had high hopes.
This style of restaurant (contactless) there was no one to talk to or share my perspective with on the food’s quality. So I had to write a Google review.
