My wife and I come here for special occasions every year. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the lower mainland. The food is always delicious and the staff are extremely friendly. We always grab the miso eggplant and their hand rolls. We recently had their yam tempura which surprisingly ended up as one of our favorite dishes from them.

Arguably the best Japanese restaurant in Burnaby and one of the best in Vancouver. The food is top quality — in terms of taste and presentation. It is also affordable and the service is impeccable. They are extremely kid friendly and have thoughtful kids meals and cutlery. There are not many Japanese restaurants that serve this type of food and not the generic sushi/ramen model. Restaurants like this need to be supported. The photos I attached are from there new lunch offerings which is very welcome!

We’ve never felt so cared for at a restaurant. It was my wife and I’s first time here and she has a few dietary restrictions to really common ingredients, so she usually just avoids anything with sauces and broths to be safe. She asked for a sashimi salad with a simple lemon/olive oil dressing, but the waitress took the time to understand her needs and the chef insisted on making a custom sauce that was safe for her. Everything was delicious , the service was excellent, and no other place has ever been able to work with us the way they did. We’ll gladly drive an hour each way to make this our new go-to Japanese restaurant.
The houji-cha creme brûlée was also perfection.

Friendly staff and you can tell they care about the food. Ingredients are solid and everything’s made with thought – a restaurant I’ll happily go back to again and again.

A Japanese restaurant that I’m willing to spend an hour on the road each way to dine in. Hawaiian music and decor with good ambiance. Regular service – I prefer the lady server than the guy server who I feel he’s too cops. Food wise – I particularly enjoy their hot dishes – my favorite is the grilled sable fish collar. The chicken karaage is the best I have tasted in town. Soft shell crab hand roll is delicious. Must try the dessert with mochi, sesame paste, fruits and matcha ice cream. Highly recommend.

my boyfriend and i got the mini omakse set, along with a few cocktails. their selection of japanese whiskey was amazing and the other drinks were made well too. the food itself was solid, and most menus were unique and had great quality. however for its pricing one would expect the quality to be a little higher. service was great too.

A well-established Japanese restaurant survived during the COVID-19 pandemic. The food is excellent, but the portions have become smaller. They need a bigger restaurant with more space between tables, so customers feel more comfortable dining.

A bit disappointing. I would go back but only for the blue fin tuna handrolls. I get that they’re trying to be creative with the other dishes but they didn’t hit.
For the squid gohan, the firefly squid itself doesn’t taste like anything but fishy and a bit bitter, then you add bitter rapini to that and it’s not a good dish. There was barely any butter, so the rice was very dry. I ended up soaking my rice in their miso soup so as not to waste it.
The appetizers were not good either, other than the tuna poke. The best were the handrolls, which is what I ate last time as well. So please stick with that.

Love everything. For me, the mini omakase was already enough for you to get full. BUT, you must not miss out on the Bluefin Tuna Sashimi “O-Toro”—my favorite from everything we ordered. The ambiance is nice and the staff are all friendly. Worth to try 🙂
