Social Profile:

Steele 94 Restaurant Bar, originally known as El Corral in the 1960s, is a historic roadside building located at the intersection of Steele Canyon Road & Campo Road (Old Hwy 94). After an 8-month covid shutdown in 2020, Steele 94 (also formerly known as the Greek Sombrero) bravely reopened in the middle of the pandemic with a big new long bar and expanded patio areas in order to hail freedom and peacefully protest for the right to serve its surrounding communities of Rancho San Diego, Spring Valley, El Cajon and Jamul’s inland empire all the way to Tecate. Family and pet friendly, Steele 94 offers a natural country venue for your special events.

Dude, if you’re looking for the BEST Bisquits & Country Gravy, look no further. This hyper local and adorable eatery hits its five year anniversary mark today on October 19, 2025. Nestled in the heart of Jamul just five minutes from Jamul Casino. The best build your own omelette and strawberry and whip, whipped cream topped malt waffle was insane.

But what really made this place great was the personable service from Brooke and Owner Miquel coming out to greet each guest with a warm and genuine welcoming.

Give this place a try when you’re in the area, you’ll thank me! They have a strong military presence and support our troops plus tonight – live music!

Miguel and his staff go above and beyond to accommodate their dining guests, whether you are there for breakfast, lunch or dinner; it’s all good food. Steele 94 sits along Highway 94 on the axis of Jamul, Rancho San Diego and Spring Valley, and is a true road house along the historic highway; which is also known as Campo Road and the Old Spanish Trail. Live music, game day, or hosting a private event; this local eatery aims to please. I’ve called Jamul home since 1992, and appreciate business owners like Miguel who put their hearts into the community.

Great non-pretentious bar and grill style restaurant. Perfect for having lunch after a hike in the county. I liked all the different seating areas that made it feel like if you moved over a few feet you’d be in a new place. Reasonable prices and even though the staff wasn’t overly friendly I can also appreciate genuine personalities. Keep up the good work!

There’s a particular kind of quiet that only shows up on rainy Saturday mornings—the kind that makes the world feel softer and a little more forgiving. I needed a drive, so I headed out and found myself at Steele 94 Restaurant Bar, the perfect escape for a slow, peaceful start to the day.
The breakfast here is everything you want on a morning like this: simple ingredients, exceptional freshness, and a kind of calm you just can’t buy. If you’re looking to trade chaos for comfort, this is the place.
I highly recommend the Pork Chop & Eggs with Country Gravy, paired with a side of Belgian waffles—my personal favorite. The flavors hit all the right notes, and the cozy atmosphere makes the whole meal feel like a warm blanket on a rainy day.
A delicious breakfast, a quiet drive, and the kind of morning that stays with you.

First time. Tried breakfast around 10a on Monday. Plenty seats in open air tables, lots of TV’s. Friendly service. Ordered two different plates. Biscuit and gravy basically firm biscuit and gravy without chunks of sausage pancakes were awesome, rich vanilla taste. Eggs bacon on point. Value was good. Will have to return again to see if would make it a recommend.

My wife and I would always drive by when this restaurant was the Greek Sombrero, I believe, and the establishment would always be busy. We decided to give the restaurant a try even though it is no longer the previous restaurant. We walked through the doorway and waited for staff to seat us but were told to have a seat where ever we liked. Our experience when told this is that the wait staff typically forgets you arrive and it takes a while to get tended to as such was the case this time. We must have waited a good 15 min before menus were delivered and our drink order taken. The food also took a while to arrive, I’m not sure if they were short on kitchen staff or what, but the owner Miguel had stopped by our table to serve us coffee and to let us know they had a large party before us and that is what was causing the delay in getting our food. We weren’t in a hurry so decided to wait and see how good the food was. We notice another table got tired of waiting and got up and left. The food was delicious and worth the wait. We had the chile relleno omelet and chilaquiles plate and a side of biscuits and gravy. The portions are large and I could only finish about 80% of my plate and wife about 50%. We’ll be back again to give it another try, but wait staff needs to try and be more attentive to the customers, especially on refills and updates on their order. Good luck Miguel your establishment has the ambiance and food for a good restaurant but the wait staff needs to do better.

Diverse menu from breakfast to burgers, from Mexican food to chicken wings, from seafood to sandwiches. The food here is delish and the service is darn right hospitable. Spacious dining area. Very popular with locals. Live music entertainment.
Ordered the Mexican Philli with French fries. The fries were golden crispy.
I will definitely be returning with my whole crew ‍☠️ Yar!!!

Phenomenal food and service!!! I came in for a late lunch and was greeted by the owner Miguel, who lured me in with a delicious smelling steak he was cooking up on their outdoor smoker grill. Brooke, the waitress and bartender gave exceptional service! I mentioned I liked the olives in my bloodymary so she totally surprised me with an extra full skewer of them! Their bloodymary mix is homemade, I asked for mine to be spicy and she did it very well! I ordered the verde pozole that was fantastic and freshly made with all the fixings – Freddy is an excellent chef! I also ordered the elote bites and I agree with the menu description – an absolute favorite! Moderate sized bites of elote goodness sprinkled with some cotija and a homemade creamy chipotle sauce for dipping. I also ordered their wings and went with the mango habenero sauce that was absolutely delicious – perfect mix of heat & sweet over savory delicious crispy wings, served with an ample portion of homemade delicious ranch dressing good enough to scrape the last bite of! When I saw the sign. American and Mexican food, I was unsure if it’d be disappointing Americanized Mexican dishes…nope, the sign is exactly correct, their menu is a separate mix of delicious authentic GREAT Mexican food AND delicious homemade GREAT American food. The atmosphere is perfect to chill and catch any type of TV you’d like to watch, mix of sports, classic movies, the news, and more. Steele 94 offers a wide range of exquisite bourbons, whiskeys, and other fine liquor classics and draft beers. But wait there’s more…. WATER IS FILTERED AND FRESH!!! Most places serve tap water that tastes like chemicals, Steele 94 serves refreshing filtered water that tastes like you’re drinking straight from a mountain spring – no residues or floating chemicals in the water or ice! Nestled in a quaint area at the bottom of the mountains, there are other nearby great and unbeatable shopping for other goods such as produce and farm supplies, and of course my favorite veterinarian is right across the street, Steele Canyon Vet. I could go on and on raving about this place, but it’s better to come and get the best dining experience for yourself!!! Plenty of parking available, and very affordable for such exceptional quality. See pics below for current menu and foodie pics 🙂

I have lived in East County my entire life. I am always looking for something ‘different’, something that stands out from the rest, a hidden gem, if you will. I had heard of Steele 94 many times and heard great things about it. I/ we finally went out to try it. I was in love with the place the second we walked in the door. It had a great feel to it and it was very welcoming. Speaking of welcoming, the owner Miguel greeted us and we were sold! We had breakfast as it is my favorite meal of the day and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed our time there so much, we returned for dinner. Once we got out of the car we were hit by the intoxicating aroma of the outdoor grill. Guess who was manning the grill, that’s right- Miguel!
We had a tremendous dinner and a great evening. I do believe I have found that hidden gem I have been looking for.
We will be back, and very soon!
