I have reviewed over 400 restaurants in Saint Louis, and this is one of the dirtiest. I walked out. Initially I sat down, and the table was still wet (recently wiped down) — but there were damp crumbs smeared onto the table. Moreso, the paper sheets they lay down — both had food smeared on the edges. The server left the previous ones on the table rather than replacing them. I got up and sat at a second table. Dirty. A third. Dirty. There were two tables occupied, and I asked the patrons if ANY tables were clean, and both parties said no. So I checked a few more tables. Every one was dirty. I am going to suggest that if the employees have no regard for the cleanliness of the restaurant where you SEE, how slovenly must be the kitchen area. I left. There are a dozen restaurants within 1/4 mile of this unhygienic place. When I left I drove one minute and enjoyed a good meal in a clean place. (District Manager, this used to be a well-run store. What happened?)

I went to this steak n shake after work around 11pm. There was three cars in front of me and by the time it was my turn to order it was well past 45 minutes. In the picture below you can see the numbers 37 minutes and 17 minutes. 37 was the longest the person was waiting infront of me. By the time it was MY turn it was an HOUR WAIT. When I got to the front window what did they do? They completely forgot my order! They didn’t offer me any coupons, or a free meal. I saw people dancing and laughing in the kitchen while I wasted gas and an hour of my time for what? A milkshake and a hotdog where the bread was hard around the edges. This is completely unacceptable and a disgusting franchise. Save your hour and go to McDonalds or taco bell instead.

Walked in the door and they handed us our menus and told us to find a place to sit. After 10 minutes had to ask someone to take our order. They explained that they had no server on duty and were trying to figure out who our server would be. All of this after we walked out of the Lindbergh location because all of the tables were covered in dried food.

Made a visit tonight after a rough day at work, and my stress and frustration has been cured. The staff at this Steak n Shake are very friendly and professional, their three star rating on google does not do them justice. It seemed rather busy when I got there with plenty of people in the drive through and at tables. The manager was very kind and collected. He explained that they were making fresh chili and was very apologetic for making me wait for about 5 min. The rest of the staff was great, especially the woman with green/tealish hair. This has always been my favorite steak and shake, and the staff continues to prove themselves as my favorite.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Steak ‘n Shake. It was one of my favorite treats as a kid many years ago. This location is fairly convenient for travelers on us 63 and Interstate 70. I found the restaurant to be clean each time I visited and the employees were helpful. The food was exactly quality you’d expect. They still make steak burgers, have the skinny french fries and a fairly expansive menu of shakes and freezes. The dining area is 1950s retro like all of their locations.

I hadn’t been here in years because of this 2-star reason – they’re SUPER SLOW. They’ve been slow for years. I only stopped here because the food is always on point and it’s inexpensive, $2.89 snack pack. But I literally waited 18 minutes total from the time I took my order to the time I got my food. I love steak and shake and their food! But this location is garbage. Even when the dining room is half empty it takes over 30 minutes after the seat you to even talk to you about a drink order, this is not even to mention how long it takes to cook. Manager hardly gave us a second look and had trouble bringing the correct number of sets of crayons to our two children. Drive farther and go to another location this one is just a waste of your time and frankly insulting by their silence.
