If you haven’t been to this restaurant in Elsah Illinois on the Great River Road you have no idea what you’re missing!!!! Food 10 Stars, service 10 Stars, atmosphere 10 Stars, and I would give them a hundred Stars if I could!!!! You need to get in your car and drive to this restaurant as soon as you can!!!! As a bonus, Anne-Marie, our waitress, serenaded us with an absolutely stunning beautiful voice at our table, atmosphere our request!!!

What a delightful discovery! This charming restaurant has such a romantic, intimate atmosphere that makes it perfect for a special evening out. We learned from the staff that they recently obtained the first liquor license in Elsa, IL in over 100 years – what a fascinating piece of local history!

The food exceeded our expectations – everything arrived promptly, prepared exactly as we ordered, and tasted fantastic. The service was attentive without being intrusive. We had the pleasure of meeting Terri, the owner, who took time to personally check on our dining experience. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare these days.

This truly is a hidden gem tucked away off the main road. If you’re looking for somewhere special that’s a bit off the beaten path, this place is absolutely worth the drive. We’re already planning our next visit!

Hidden Gem in Elsah – a sequel even better than the original. The hosts moved their thriving restaurant business from downtown Alton without missing a beat.
Great atmosphere, service, food and drinks
So many great choices for lunch. Everything was delicious. In a new twist for Elsah, drinks include mocktails, cocktails as well as wines and beers. Fabulous food, great location, excellent service from Erin too. Can’t wait to return to try everything on the menu. Dinner menu looks phenomenal. Try to save room for key lime pie dessert too. Or take some home with you.

I had dinner with my sister and a friend of ours last night. The food was fantastic. Service was exceptional. And it was a nice, cozy atmosphere, too! If you’re ever in Elsah, a hidden gem of a town, do go visit!

The gem of Elsah, Illinois! Hidden away on the hill on a side street, the restaurant (I hear) gets it’s name from a previous location. The interior is warm and welcoming with several smaller rooms to break up the too crowded feeling, which is good since they are usually busy and reservations are recommended. However, we were a group of 4 on a Saturday at 12:30 and were able to get a table with no wait.

The Adult grilled cheese was pleasantly different. The accompnying arugula salad was well prepared. Mom said the chili was very good.

Noise level was a little ‘echoey’ but most guests were talking quietly. We were the loudest there. Sorry ’bout that!

Parking is free on the street and might be tricky if there’s a crowd. We had no problem. Waze said to turn left on a one way street off the main road into town, but just go a block further and take the next left and turn left again at the next street. The restaurant is on the left.

Service and wait time were very good. Pay at the table to your server with a mobile card reader. Very convenient!
Thanks to staff and owners for the great experience!

We were greeted upon arrival, we didn’t make a reservation but we were still seated for dinner which starts at 5pm. Very friendly staff! Loved the look of the place. Gotta have a drink from the bar they make them very delicious. Food was perfect and came out nice and hot. We had the flatbread for the appetizer, very tasty. For dinner I had the salmon and my husband had the filet, both were very delicious. Dessert was perfection as well. I will definitely come back again.

Popped in after visiting the Schmidt gallery at Principia college. Had the eggs in purgatory and California dreamer panini. Both were delicious.

So happy we finally made it to State Street’s new location, they did not disappoint! State Street provides excellent food, with a diverse menu selection. Everything is priced fairly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. A great spot for catching up with friends, or a date night out. Erin provided fast, and friendly service as always. It is so worth the drive from Alton!!!

Delicious dinner and drinks with fantastic service. My salmon was perfect, and the starter beet salad is a home run. “Purple Rain” cocktail was unique and refreshing (and paired well with both the salmon and the salad!) We even split a piece of their key lime pie with raspberry sauce — a great way to end the meal. It was a fabulous evening.

This place was absolutely fabulous. I dare say this was the best dinner experience ever. The food was melt in your mouth terrific, and bonus… our server sang happy birthday to one of our friends and we found out she is an incredible singer! We returned and Anna Marie sang each chorus to us!! Professional shoe tunes! This is a must go and must ask for her. We will try to be regulars here.
