Stake Chophouse & Bar is a boutique steakhouse in the heart of Coronado, just across the street from the world-famous Hotel Del Coronado, and right across the bridge from downtown San Diego. Our chef has created a menu featuring USDA Prime, American Wagyu, Japanese A5 Wagyu, along with other cuts from around the world. Our seafood is always fresh and sourced using best practices, while our sides are seasonal and locally sourced. Our extensive wine program with over 1200 selections has been recognized by Wine Spectators Best of Award of Excellence for 7 years in a row. I absolutely love Stake. I’ll go out on a limb and say this is the best steakhouse in San Diego. The food is out of this world. The steak is some of the best I’ve ever had. They have a 1500 bottle wine list with wines from all over the world. There sommelier Dan is extremely knowledgeable and keeps back vintages of some of the best wines in the world. Service is always impeccable and the ambience is beautiful. This is my go to for celebrations or just when I want to have a beautiful night with my wife.

This is a nice restaurant with supposedly upscale food, especially steak. Our server mark was excellent and explained the different steak choices. He suggested a plate with samples of three different kinds of steak, all of a wagu variety for my wife. One was so tough you could hardly cut it…. sizzler could have done better. The other two were passable but not out of this world, which we were expecting for $115. I’m sorry but I could never recommend this place. My halibut was OK on one end and dry on the other. Nothing to write home about. Try somewhere else.

This place is more than a restaurant it is an experience. The food was amazing and it was a special night thanks to the wonderful staff. Highly recommend the taste of Japanese A5. Even the espresso was amazing! They also offer complimentary car service if you are staying in Coronado. I can’t wait to visit again.
