Saint Mary’s Restaurant is a new restaurant that opened on West Metairie. Their business model helps those with developmental disabilities. The atmosphere is cozy, clean, and inviting, and the staff couldn’t be nicer—genuinely friendly, attentive, and happy to make sure you’re taken care of.
The food was outstanding. The Orange Julius was better than the ones they used to have a Lakeside. The grillades and grits were phenomenal. Tender, flavorful with perfectly cooked grits.
Overall, Saint Mary’s is a gem—great people, great vibe, and incredible food. Highly recommended!

We came on a Friday evening after work. From the hostess to the waiter, the service was friendly and quick. We got the grits and grillades and the breakfast platter. Delicious! Love the mission behind this restaurant. We will be back for the food, experience and support for St. Mary’s!

First time coming here and the food didn’t disappoint. My table had the churro waffle with bacon, chicken sandwich with frys, the Cajun benny with a biscuit, along with a side of cheese grits. I would highly recommend the waffle it was crispy and delicious. The eggs benny was okay, the boudin came in a fried patty which was just okay but the biscuit is fantastic and the jam tasted homemade. The cheese grits were lack luster. The staff is friendly. I’m confused on the vibe this place is trying to give. As it looks very nice and a sit down place. But we sat ourselves and you go to the counter and order your food. And then handed a number card for your table. It’s reminiscent of a hotel because they have coffee out with cups but we asked if we are to pay for the coffee since it’s self serve and there’s cups out and you are to pay for coffee but make it and get it yourself. I could understand if the cups were behind the counter but why have the cups out if you are charging for coffee. I don’t know if I would recommend the place without mentioning that the vibes of the place is a little weird and in between sit down and self services. But the food was delicious so it’s hard to say if I’d come back. Good but has place to improvement.

I would like to give this place another shot. I had the Irish Breakfast and as someone who loves the traditional Irish Breakfast I was disappointed and did not finish my plate. The flavors were not there, and though traditional Irish Breakfast is bigger on quality ingredients than heavy seasoning there was still something missing. And as I’m typing this I’m realizing that most Irish Breakfasts include some sort of potato. The plating was very beautiful and neat. I would be interested in trying their fried green tomato poboy.

The shining star of the whole establishment is the service which you will see highlighted in the reviews. That alone would make me come back and to try their lunch. This place has potential for sure and maybe my expectations were too high.

A really sweet place tucked away and unassuming. Excited to go back cuz there’s something comforting about it. Never knew how much I wanted boudin with hollandaise, great recipe! I didn’t get the hostess’ name, but she really kept her attention up and made you feel at home. Def recommend!

We had a great experience at St. Mary’s for our first visit. I ordered the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes, peas & carrots, everything was just perfect & tasted as fresh as possible. My wife had the gumbo & Steak Frites. The menu itself is super long but I feel pretty confident there is something everyone will enjoy.

The atmosphere is much nicer than I expected from the outside with a bar on one side and dining tables on the opposite side. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. Mr. Ed came to our table to make sure we knew their backstory (they financially support St. Mary’s which is a community for individuals with developmental disabilities in Boyce, Louisiana) and that we were enjoying our meals.

My only concern might be lack of parking if they are busy & the pizza joint is busy. We ate early when we went so we had no issues.

We can’t wait for to take our dinner group back there. Mr. Ed told us they would welcome a group with advance notice.

Go check out St. Mary’s for a great meal and to support a great cause at the same time!

I was there for breakfast with a friend the other day and I was not impressed with the quality of the service. First we went in and we told to go and order with the cashier. Then we sat down and waited for at least 45 mins for our food and no one came down to tell us they were running behind. Also no one brought our coffees down which I paid for with the meal which is usually the first thing to come down when you are waiting for your food so eventually we had to go over and self serve ourselves. So we were basically sitting twiddling our thumbs for 45 minutes with no coffee. When I asked about our food we got a poor answer. The table next to us had just sat down and the waitress brought them all waters. Eventually we had to ask the server to bring us waters and when she did the water had a heavy chlorine taste to it. The breakfast was not an authentic Irish breakfast in my experience. The beans were regular pork and beans no Heinz baked beans or Bachelors beans. It only came with one sausage and the overall portions were sparse. I’m just very disappointed at the overall service of everyone. I work in hospitality myself and found this place substandard. Also prices were not that cheap either for the size of the portion. If I should return I would love to have a better experience.

Food was delicious. Love that they give 15% to a home for developmentally disabled. Prices were good. Atmosphere was great and the lady working the counter was so sweet! Will definitely go again!
