Great Little Hometown bar. That has dining space available. The food is absolutely delicious. My wife got the Smashburger and I got their corned beef sandwich. Both of them were absolutely amazing and delicious. I highly recommend. The service was phenomenal. The atmosphere is lovely.

Great service at the bar. Al is a true entertainer! Delicious elevated pub food. One of the few remaining places that serves potato skins, so that automatically gets a 5-star rating from me. Lively atmosphere and friendly staff. And they have my favorite decorative piece displayed proudly behind the bar: the famous leg lamp.

My wife and I dined at the bar here on the evening of January 20, 2026 while on a 4 day camper trip to Homosassa, about 10 miles south of Crystal River. We noticed this place earlier in the day while driving around “downtown” and it looked like it had some cool atmosphere, so after showering, decided to drive back up there for dinner. When we arrived about 6:30 pm, it was already packed. Every table was full, and so was every bar seat. We almost walked out to look for an alternative place to dine, but luckily a couple vacated their bar seats and we quickly occupied them. The bar tender was a crusty older gentleman, who might have been a retired NYPD or North Jersey police officer, but he was very friendly and attentive. We ordered their house specialty, a loaded Smash Burger and some beers. They have a local IPA called Big Nose (named after the Manatees here), so I ordered that, and it tasted very good. My second serving was a lower ABV Smithwicks Irish Red Ale, and it too was served nice and cold. The Smash Burger was terrific and just the right size for the two of us to share and have a full belly at the end of the meal. Inside, this place almost looks like it might have been a small church because it has a beautiful, exposed beam ceiling. Outside it’s all brick construction, and it looked to be at least 100 years old. Based on the crowd size, which is always a good indicator of good food, atmosphere, and service, it was our experience that you can have a great meal experience here and we’d highly recommend checking it out if you are visiting Crystal River or Homosassa.

We shared some wings (called ahead to make sure they were offered on a night other than Wings Wednesday) and a Reuben – flavors were bright, meat was juicy and tender, beer was cold and fresh. Service was friendly and the atmosphere comfortable. Looking forward to coming back.

We went here because the reviews said they had good food. They do. It’s pub food but really good pub food. We went on a Wednesday evening in February and got the last available table. It was busy and there was only one waitress but she did a good job. It took her a minute or two to get our food order but once the order was taken the food was out quickly. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes. They are served with blue cheese crumbles and fresh bacon crumbles.

If you’re in Crystal River and wondering where to go out it’s St. John’s Tavern.
Friday and Saturday nights are always a vibe with a DJ or live music and a fun, upbeat crowd. If your from out of town looking for a place to go out while your visiting, this is the place!!! But honestly, it’s just as good during the week. Whether it’s a laid-back dinner Monday through Thursday or a weekend night out, it always hits. Great food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere every single time and makes you feel like you’re at your own hometown bar. Greg and Noelle have built one of the best spots in Citrus County it just feels like your place the second you walk in.

St John’s is our go too for amazing food, the best staff and the owners are like family. Everyone is fun, friendly and happy to see you everytime.
We make St John’s a special treat after a long week, we eat, have some drinks, listen to great music, have great conversations with the owners and staff and hang out with our closest friends and meet new ones from our little community. Much love and hugs to our St John’s family. We love yall.

Came in from out of town with a couple of friends for a late snack. I originally asked for a blt and they were out, so I asked how the chili dog was and our server recommended it. The bun of the chili dog that I had was completely stale and I ended up not eating it after the initial bite; the server asked if there was anything she could do to make my experience better and I told her no. Upon leaving, I was going to say something to the manager he made direct eye contact with me not once but twice and did not come over to our table (walked right past us). We still paid for the chili dog.

Kind of sucked because it seemed like a nice place to go and hang out, the atmosphere was great. They had a good beer selection, and the fried pickles we had were excellent.

After doing a manatee swim tour with a company right across the street, this was the perfect place to grab food after a fun morning with the manatees.

Food: Quite excellent. We got the pretzel appetizer, not realizing how gigantic it is. But the mistake was worth it, it’s amazing. For our entrees, we both got the Flat Bread Margherita pizza. It was a subtle flavor, I wish it had just a touch more spice, but otherwise a great pizza.

Atmosphere: Very cool and relaxed vibe. It’s a tavern, so there’s low lighting and lots of TV’s. But it wasn’t overly loud.

Service: Very prompt and friendly service, and attentive when we needed refills.

Restroom: Clean and stocked.
