In the Orlando/Sanford area on assignment, my colleagues stopped by this wonderful restaurant right on the water. I could not resist the extra crispy wings to start our meal off thus what is what I ordered for our appetizer. I asked our server to have the chef cook the wings extra extra crispy…it has always been a textural thing for my pallette and boy they did not disappoint. We asked for a side of hot buffalo sauce and blue cheese and the coolness of the blue cheese cut through the spiciness of the buffalo sauce. Being my first time here… I looked over the menu and scanned it well. One of the daily specials caught eye…the iceberg lettuce wedge salad with filet mignon. I accompanied that with a wonderful local clam chowder. The clam chowder had the perfect combination of potatoes, clams and creamy brother. The wedge salad had amazing texture with the crisp iceberg lettuce and the home made bacon bits. The filet mignon was cooked to perfect and was a welcome treat on my plate as it was incredibly tender. Our servers were ultra attentive always having our drinks topped off and even treated us with to go drinks… my drink of choice here today was their freshly made iced tea. Come on by the St John’s River steak and seafood and treat yourself to a wonderful meal. Pro diner tip: check out the specials as you walk in…they acutely had a bone in tomahawk steak as one of their lunch specials. As an added bonus I took some images of a whole red snapper meal that one of my colleagues enjoyed for his meal.

Food was kind of hit or miss. My wife got the Saint John’s Classic. This comes with either mahi or grouper. The server taking our order said the mahi can be a bit dry here. So my wife opted for the grouper, which was very good. Crab cake was okay. Scallops were terrible. Wife managed to force one down. I tried one, but ended up spitting it out in a napkin. We love scallops but will avoid them here in the future. Rice was good. Coleslaw was good. I had the Key West Chicken and added shrimp skewers. I was skeptical of the combination of caramelized onions, grilled pineapples, honey mustard, and jerk sauce. It tasted so good together. Excellent balance of flavors. Chicken was cooked perfect. Would absolutely get it again. The fried okra (soft, lacked flavor) and broccoli (2 large pieces, no flavor) was not good. The red velvet cake with cheesecake layer dessert was different. It had a very smooth texture and taste. Did not have the overly sweet and artificial flavor that most versions have. It was enjoyable.
The location is beautiful. Ample parking and nice area to walk before/after eating. There’s lots of windows and seating near windows. So even if you’re not sitting directly next to a window, there’s still plenty of good waterfront views. Plus natural light during the day.
Service was slow. We had too many servers assisting us. Didn’t know who to actually talk to. None of them seemed to care about our business. So we didn’t bother saying anything.

The food was delicious. We had to wait for a table but the wait has a beautiful view of the lake. The pasta had so much flavor. The dessert cakes are HUGE. Need to go back to try them.

What a fantastic find! I was searching for a spot with a beautiful waterfront setting and quality cuisine, and St. Johns River Steak and Seafood delivered on every front. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection; every person in our party was thrilled with their meal. Beyond the plate, the service was top-tier and the lake view provided the perfect backdrop for the evening. We will definitely be back soon!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and had a wonderful experience. The food was outstanding. The steak was perfectly cooked with seasoning that stood out as some of the best we’ve had. The lobster and seafood platter were fresh and flavorful, and the sweet potato fries were easily the best we’ve ever tasted.
The service was excellent from start to finish. Staff were attentive without being intrusive, and they even surprised us with a complimentary dessert to mark our anniversary.
The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. We had a window seat overlooking the water, which made the evening feel even more special.
Pricing was very fair for the quality of food and service we received. We would definitely recommend St. Johns River Steak & Seafood, especially for special occasions or anyone looking for a memorable meal by the water.

The service was so fast and very friendly. They have a team serving system where one person takes your order, someone else brings things out, and etc. I expected it to be chaotic but it was actually very seamless and well organized. One server brought out our food, another was right behind him to offer malt vinegar for my fish and chips. We were well taken care of but also not bombarded by interruptions.
The food was amazing! We both ordered the fish and chips and the fish was tender and flaky, cooked perfectly. The sidewinder fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. The hush puppies were the best I’ve ever tasted! I don’t normally like coleslaw, but even that was delicious. And you can tell the tartar sauce is made fresh in house.
The atmosphere is fun and lively with a strong marina vibe.

My guy and I really enjoyed the food. The food is well seasoned and the portion size is enough for two people to eat from 1 plate. The service is a little different than what I am used to. So we had our main server but when he walked away someone else came over and took our order. Then after that person walked away someone else came over to check on us. The manager explained to us they all work together. It’s not a bad thing just different. We sat on the enclosed patio with the beautiful view of the river. We will definitely dine there again.

We heard about this cute little restaurant that was right on the river in Sanford. We did make a reservation a few hours before we decided to go, which was the best idea because they are very busy restaurant. The first thing that I think was amazing was that they were collectively as a team to serve each table which really made the customer experience skyrocket cause anytime you needed something somebody was like hey is everything OK? Do you need your drink refilled is everything as you wish there was somebody within earshot to assist with whatever you need.
We had coconut shrimp hush puppies the key was platter in the whole snapper
I will say they have large meal size and definitely could be shared
All of our food was extremely good and we shared it amongst the whole table 4 or five people
The service was great. We sat in the covered enclosed patio close to the river, which was nice.

We were seated by the river (inside the restaurant and per request) and that alone is amazing, but the service and food met the same quality! Their spinach artichoke dip was and is their best appetizer and the best one I’ve had in my life! I also don’t like oysters but for some reason I told my wife to share one with me and it was great too! Their other foods (as seen in the pictures) was amazingly delicious and fresh. Thank you Jess and the team for a memorable experience and dinner!
