Upon entering the restaurant, we were led to our table by the host, who was very kind and showed us where the bathrooms were located and where we could hang our coats. The whole ambiance was nice and cozy, and the staff seemed very attentive.
When we were given the menu, I’m not going to lie, it looked very overwhelming. But after overhearing a server explain the menu to an equally confused couple, my boyfriend and I understood how to approach it.
We ended up getting a couple of Negroni cocktails, the Cipollini Ripieni, and two of the pastas our server recommended, half Tajarin con Burro e Salvia and half Tajarin al Ragù. For our secondi, we ordered the Guancia di Manzo Brasata al Barolo.
Everything came out in a timely manner and was absolutely delicious. The portions were perfect for the two of us. We especially loved how juicy the Cipollini Ripieni was. The pastas were also our favorites. We were thankful to have ordered half portions of each because we were already getting full before our last dish arrived. The pasta was so good, we loved the texture, and it’s amazing that it’s all made in house. From where we were sitting, we could partially see the chefs cooking, which was very cool. We loved the intimate dining experience.
Our secondi was possibly my all time favorite dish of the night. The Guancia di Manzo Brasata al Barolo was so tender, it melted in your mouth. The purée was delicious, and the pomegranates complemented the flavors beautifully.
As full as we were from all the delicious food, we still made a little room for dessert because we wanted to make sure their desserts were just as good as their savory dishes. We were debating between two options but ultimately chose the Pera Millefoglie. When the server brought our dessert, she also surprised us with the Zuppa Inglese con Mele we had been considering. She was so sweet and said it was on the house because she knew we were stuck between the two and wanted us to experience both. The desserts were amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the creaminess and sweetness of each.
Not only was the food an incredible experience, but we are also thankful for our server for being so attentive, as well as the other staff who promptly cleared our plates. Our water glasses were always refilled, and the table was quickly cleaned after each course.
This experience was absolutely worth it. I can see why reservations are hard to get. This was possibly the best dining experience I have had in a while. We will definitely be back.
Pasta magic that’s worth every waitlist — just bring a little more warmth to the welcome.
After seeing Spinasse trending on Google Maps, I tried to go three different times—and each time they were fully booked! On OpenTable, you’ll often only find 9:30 PM slots for the week ahead, so if you want this pasta, plan early.
When I finally got in (by lucky accident), I understood the buzz. The dining room is cozy and elegant, with white tablecloths, soft lighting, and the kind of quiet energy that says, “this is serious pasta.” I was relieved to find there’s extra seating around the corner, which gives the space a bit more breathing room while keeping the charm intact.
We skipped appetizers, but the kitchen surprised us with a crostini topped with creamy brie and shaved radish—simple, refined, and delicious. I ordered the housemade pasta with rib ragù, and let’s just say… this is what handmade should taste like. The noodles were silky and light, the sauce slow-cooked perfection, and the meat tender enough to melt your worries away.
The beet and chicory salad was crisp and refreshing—balanced and earthy in all the right ways. Portions are elegant, not oversized, which I loved; it’s the kind of meal that satisfies your senses, not just your appetite.
Service could use a bit more sparkle. Our waiter was kind but lacked enthusiasm, and the hostess’ cool demeanor set a slightly detached tone. A little more excitement in storytelling—about the chef, the process, the passion—would elevate the whole experience to match the excellence of the food.
Still, Spinasse is a must for pasta lovers. With a bit more warmth in the service, it could easily hit that fifth star.
Pro tip: Reserve early, skip the rush, and savor slow-made pasta that feels like a love letter to Italy.
