Went into this establishment on a Sunday afternoon about 230pm with a party of 8 ppl. We were seated promptly upon entry no wait time as the restaurant was only 10 percent full. We were seated at separate tables with no explanation, but tables were close enough to speak with rest of party. With a raised voice. When we attempted to accommodate ourselves we were instructed not to move the tables. My party primarily ordered fish and chicken and shrimp all of which stated it was good. One ordered lamb chops which looked pretty good he did finish it completely so I assume it was good as well. My Mac was cheesy and creamy baked with a golden blanket. My fish was fried golden but it had no flavor to me. I believe everyone in my party would give this place another visit as they all said they enjoyed their meals. I would not revisit but hey you can’t please everyone. Expect to spend $20/adult. Overall decent experience and good food from my party’s perspective.

I was a little scared to try this place because of the poor reviews but I am very glad that I did. When I first pulled up I thought the GPS brought me to the wrong place. The outside doesn’t give restaurant at all. Once I stepped inside I was amazed. Very cozy with a great ambiance. Despite it being Father’s Day we were seated right away. They gave us a huge comfy booth despite it just being two of us. Our waitress, Kyla (hope I’m spelling her name right) was very friendly and amazing. We had catfish nuggets as an appetizer. They were tiny but seasoned well and we’re great. I had lamb chops cooked medium with collard greens and a piece of cornbread. It was all amazing. The collards were seasoned to perfection. The lamb was tender and had a tasty savory/sweet sauce. The cornbread taste more like cake but I loved it. He had lamb chops cooked the same way but had fries and coleslaw, which was also good. Even the Mountain Dew hit different. All in all I loved it. They even have security outside in the parking lot. I definitely want to go back.

First of all this was the first time I had dinner there. It is far too pricey for the meals they serve cat fish over cooked mashed potatoes only were smashed spuds no cream base or anything except butter not whipped or acceptable steak bites bite back tough and over cooked., vegetable were undercooked, spirits were spiritless missing considerable alcohol and to cost as much as $14 for a small double shot type glass that ended up simply mimicking koolaid was a bit much. Of the 7 of us dinning no one had an enjoyable plate and that was disheartening as I have heard so many things about this place. It cud use some refurbishing as the decor is dated and no one is beyond patronizing or leaving tips however if service does not match the percentage requested it needs to be re evaluation our server was alright not grand as the tip amount definitely misrepresents the service we actually received. The bright spot of all the side dishes at our table the candid yams were acceptable learning that the proteins are the only thing cooked to order and that the cooks are long gone after sides are prepared was surprising. Maybe on other nights they may do better it just was not Saturday March 11,2023….. Side note all the handicapped parking spaces were roped off an not I use……Kiki RN

So far I’ve been here twice and i must say the food is amazing! The catfish never disappoints. They ran out of Mac & cheese and didn’t have it when i came the second time. The service could be better. The waitress was not really attentive. The drinks are good though & i enjoy the atmosphere.

We was referred by the rental car agent at the airport and I swear, she nailed it. The food, the service, and the ambiance was all exceptional. I definitely recommend Southern Fire if you’re in the Detroit area.

We were here for dinner with my wife’s side of the family after her Aunt got married. We had a section reserved for our large party and the restaurant was ready to receive us when we arrived. However, a couple of the waitresses assigned to us were clearly not happy with having to serve a large group. One of the waitresses rudely asked my wife “can I help you” when my wife said absolutely nothing to her. The manager did come over to apologize and gave us a new waitress who was awesome. My wife and I chose not to eat because I was just turned off by that foolishness. However, we fed our kids because I wasn’t going to make them watch their cousins and other family members eat. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their food though. I heard no complaints about the taste or the quality and were a party of 35-40.

This was the worst soul food I have ever tasted. Mac & cheese was flavor less, noodles were over cooked. Over all BIG dissatisfaction. The dressing taste like stove top stuffing, and very wet. The brisket was okay. Lastly the peach cobbler, it was very watery. And the dough was gooey. Throw the whole meal away. A waste of money. The one star was for the brisket.

Went to Southern Fire to celebrate my grandmother birthday. Was really disappointed in the service there but pleased with the food and portions. The short rib (not smothered) was tender and delicious. The greens are good and flavorful as well as the yams. Other family members were happy with the Mac n cheese and cornbread. My parents really enjoyed the lamb chops, chicken wings and really tasty catfish. Unfortunately this soul food restaurant did not serve any iced tea (unsweetened nor sweetened) nor homemade lemonade. They had strawberry lemonade but it was apparently some bottled version or something because it was extremely sweet and vaguely tasted like lemonade. The staff were openly just hanging out on their phones in guest booths, not very attentive to customers and slow to return to tables to attend to guests. Seems to be a work culture there of this type of behavior versus just a random day like this. The decor is nice but the use of big table numbers on each table is tacky and outdated. The silverware is incredibly cheap and flimsy – expecting guests to eat and cut their food with child-like utensils is ridiculous. I wish the shortcomings of this establishment could improve.

Food was warm not hot. Mac and cheese was eggy, yams good, greens ok, chicken and fish ok. Music kinda loud. Beyonce “say my name” is not what my old self enjoyed hearing eating my dinner. Stroblights made me feel like I was in a night club. $75 for 8 chicken wings, 2 pieces of fish, 4 sides and 2 sodas. Seating was fast but service was slow. Parking spot was hard to find. Lightning was good in parking lot when I left. Also security was present. Bathrooms were dirty and smelled lightly. Soap and paper towel dispensers broken. Waited 40 minutes to get bill after eating. Tip was included in bill. Had to pay at counter because waitress forgot about my table. It wasn’t the worst but customer service training is needed.
