I did not have a good experience here. We (two women) were seated directly in front of the kitchen door, so there was a ton of traffic. We ordered appetizers and two glasses of wine each, and the cost was $104!! The appetizers were very small and nothing special at all. When I asked about the happy hour $2 discount on each glass, I was told its only for the bar, not at the tables. Major disappointment!

Rabbit Rillette with pickled onions for appetizer was awesome!Chilled curried corn soup was delicious along with the fried catfish and soft shell crabs. The hazelnut cake with blueberry sauce was good but not my favorite.

Southbound is definitely unique. The menu is seasonal and creative but not enough options. My daughter and I had a hard time finding what we want for dinner. I am giving a four stars for the menu lack of selections, entrees are very expensive but not memorable. They do offer a good selection of wine and mix drinks. Service was great.

Stopped by with a local friend while in Bon Air and was very impressed with both the service and the menu; sat at the bar with welcoming bartenders serving fantastic cocktails; light dinner of Summer salads & sandwiches, which were delicious; definitely a spot to return to again.

Listen friends, you will not regret eating here. I’ve ordered a couple of times now and it’s been consistently great. Tonight, I had the snakehead fish (I know; it’s not what you might think). It was superb. The white fish was perfectly seasoned right out of the pan or oven; it was so hot that it stay very warm until the last bite. Astonishing. The dish came with pickled red onions; also delicious. In addition, there were super tasty fingerling potatoes, and perfectly cooked spinach. The spinach was cooked but not soft of wilted. It was cold inside so I only ordered hot tea with honey, which–you guessed it, was excellent in taste and temperature. It stayed hot nearly until I completed my meal. Service is good. I really liked the hostess. She was very sweet and knowledgeable. I liked that she took an interest in making sure I had the best dinning experience. I should have gotten her name but, I just left about 10 minutes ago–so it’s the young lady on duty at the hostess station tonight 5/17/2023. The waitress was also good; she just seemed hurried and not as friendly as the hostess (she said something was going that kept her from my table as often as she would have liked. I thought the two times she came were sufficient because I reading and didn’t want many interruptions. The server’s vibe was ultra pleasant. I liked how he presented my plate along with a very kind genuine smile that made me feel at ease. I didn’t like the music, I don’t think it matches the food style or the ambience. Overall, I’d rate this restaurant a 9.6 out of 10.

Top notch all the way. Steak was cooked to perfection and I have never had mussels cooked properly at any restaurant until now. Most places over cook or to the point of almost over cooked. These were done but still soft on the inside. That chili sauce was the bomb! The criticism I would have would be the selection of mushroom for the steak dish. That type of mushroom is very chewy when cooked. But still the flavors on everything was superb. Don’t forget to try the brussel sprouts. The restaurant itself is simply decorated which is nice but the noise level is rather High.

Me and a friend came here over firebird gril and because latitude in stony point said they had a 2 he wait for 2 people lol. The ambiance is simple yet romantic (low lighting and smooth music) loved the Peninsula bar and yellow lights. We were glad to not have the server run to us as soon as we sat down because it allowed us time to look at the menu u and the drink options. I ordered the Faerie Blossom and my friend had the Speak no evil. Both delicious mine was refreshing and his was smooth like a Pina colada. Next I ordered the fried catfish and added a crab cake and he had the homemade rigatoni and added the burrata. Both were good; mine need seasoning (salt and pepper) but the hot butter sauce was a great sauce. His paired great together but the noodles were undercooked . We def recommend coming here and was very surprised it wasn’t packed.

Me and my sister went there for Valentine where they had a selective menu their choices were good but could have been better the the shrimp salad was delicious the crab cakes were a little burnt and pair with coleslaw and potato salad I have sensitive teeth so pairing cold and hot bothers me so I only ate the crab cakes the desert choices could have been better I didn’t like any of them but I chose the tiramisu I didn’t eat it. My sister had the lobster bisque she didn’t like the croutons it was too hard and she also got the salmon with brussel sprouts which was a little burnt she didn’t like the taste of it but the salmon was good she chose a chocolate dessert that she did not eat
