Barstool Pizza Review – SoPies NY Pizzeria (Southern Pines, NC)
Reviews
I was looking forward to trying the pizza, at the very least, but unfortunately, everything we ordered was awful. The wings were soaked in sauce and rubbery, resembling reheated leftover wings.
The 14-inch pizza was not nearly as thin as the pizza offered by the slice. The sauce has no flavor at all. The sausage tastes like hot dogs, and the pepperoni is mostly grease.
The guy working the oven kept opening it every few minutes, resulting in a pointless pizza oven. He also barks out orders for more pizza boxes to be stacked up to the ceiling. The woman that took our order was very nice and clearly trying hard but other than that it seems that this place is run very poorly.
Thin crispy slices.
Shop interior was later interestingto say the least. The assembled pizza boxes were stacked upto the ceiling that kind of blocks the view of whatever counter space you might have. It was hard to figure out that there are 2 registers to place your order.
Would return and try something else that’s not as salty, and chase it down with a cold beer.
Sufficient tables for a small party.
Boxes were laid out atop the seats on the side.
They charge extra for card, but they don’t warn you.
Now the good parts.
This was the best pizza this side of the US outside of the East Coast. My spouse grew up with Apizza (ah beetz) and NY stuff so he just tolerates most pizza. But this impressed him enough that he even told my inlaws about it 🙂 So that we can get some when they come visit.
The portions were not skimpy! It was fun to watch them make the pizza with handfuls of ingredients.
The dough was the right crunch and flavor was spot on.
Even the mozza sticks were good and not empty, thin pastry of something.
They used really good cheeses 🙂
Too bad we’re too far to get delivery 🙁 But we WILL definitely be back!!!
