If comfort food had a love language, this place would be fluent in it. Every grilled cheese they make at Smugglers Cove (or as the kids call it, Smuggs) here is pure perfection—crispy, golden bread with that ideal crunch, wrapped around gooey, molten cheese that stretches exactly the way you hope it will. You can taste the quality in every bite, whether you’re going classic or trying one of their more creative combos.
My favorite part of Smuggs is the owner’s (Mr. Groden) commitment to make sure the restaurant is open six – or perhaps even seven – days of the week.
The restaurant really cares about the community that it serves. Frequently, it offers free meals for those who are willing to participate in health and wellness activities (limbo), and can relate to its customer base on a fundamental level by emphasizing soft skills (a putting competition).
The commitment by Mr. Groden to improve the restaurant is evident in the large number of new sides offered – from Mexican Coke, to tomato soup, and even chocolate and vanilla milkshakes.
The atmosphere is extremely warm and inviting, the kind of spot where you instantly relax and forget about the outside world. The staff clearly cares about what they’re serving and it shows in both the food and the service. Often they will hand-deliver the food to you and ask how your day is going. I really appreciate the personal interaction that I’ve had with all of the employees Simple concept, executed flawlessly. I’d come back again and again—as I already do.

Never thought a food establishment could make me feel this way. The sensation of biting into the buttered bread of the grilled cheese is unmatched. All the nuggies were cooked to crisp perfection. And the milkshakes…. Oh the milkshakes, were simply perfect. I spend 90% of my income on this place, and I never regret going there. I might not live at this place, but I do call it my home.
