We traveled all the way from Wisconsin for a speech tournament & stumbled on Smashburger—Steven went out of his way to give us a great dining experience! He was SO KIND and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. If we are ever back in Phoenix, I will make a point of returning to get another outstanding burger and chat time with Steven. Thank you so much!! Stopped in to get a burger and then. after giving my order I went to go find a table. There were only two other people in the entire restaurant eating. Sadly, every single table (over a dozen) had pieces of leftover food, used napkins or half eaten meals just sitting there. Three kitchen staff and a manager all sitting behind the counter taking and laughing. Had to ask one of the kitchen staff to come out and clean the tables of which they cleaned only two off. So my family had to enjoy eating next to a ton of dirty tables. Not a lot of pride in keeping a clean and appealing place for your customers here. Won’t be returning.

Staff was phenomenal and very happy to greet customers while engaging with them politely. Food was served very quickly and tasted pretty good as well. Atmosphere is what you’d expect from a chain restaraunt but a good place go to in a pinch where you know staff will take care of you.

Just this last Saturday, my wife and I stopped in at the Smash Burger on Elliot in Tempe to pick up some take out food. In the past, we have had good food with good customer service but I can’t say the same with this experience. We were greeted at the front counter by Steven who did not greet us with a smile and appeared rude and very abrupt. When we gave him our order, he snapped at me saying “look we have many different kinds of smash burgers, be specific.” Similar thing happened with my wife since she asked for substitutions due to her diet restrictions. He was very impatient and seemed relunctant to make the exceptions she asked for. Then, lastly I asked Steven for a cup that I can fill with ice. He didn’t say “sure” of okay. He instead slapped his hand on his thigh in anger. If Steven had a bad day, there is still no excuse for his attitude.

Classic burgers taste good, but sometimes the cook on the patty of the burger is uneven. I really like the smash fries, best fries for me yet. I would’ve given 5 star if the cook of the patty is even and consistent.

Great meal! I haven’t been to Smashburger much, but I will be returning soon. We had such great customer service by a young man named Sergio, and the food was so good, that we will be back. I had the Avocado Club burger, my wife the BBQ Bacon Cheddar and my daughter the Mac & Cheese burger. All delicious and cooked perfectly. We each tried different fries and tots. I think I got the best of that, those Smashtots are super good.
