We were in New York for our daughters college championship soccer game (Delta College Womens Soccer). We came all the way from Michigan. While here, we went went to this pizzeria that was recommended by Dave Portnoy, and man were we impressed. We went with the tried and true cheese pizza. We loved how the sauce was light but the fresh flavor was amazing. Cheese was golden to perfection and not to thick at all. The ratios of cheese, sauce, and crust were spot on. The pizza crust was golden brown with blisters. The “under carriage” was toasted evenly with no flop at all.
The owner, Joe, is just as wonderful as the products he serves.. He believes in his menu, and his menu shows it.
We spent the entire week in NY & tried all the pizza spots we could. This pizzeria was top notch & the best we’ve had. It’s even is in our top 3 EVER. We’ve traveled all over the US to put things in perspective. In my book, this ranks in the high 9’s. I believe “Slice” will be around the area for decades to come. Amazing job, Joe. Next year we are looking forward to coming back!

While in town from Michigan, my husband & I came into slice to try one of the famous reviewed pizzas. We eneded up getting a large cheese pizza & a wing combo. Both items were spot on. Im not talking just good, im talking AMAZING. We dont have anything like this where we live. The sauce was light in color & SO FRESH. The crust was golden & bubbly with absolutely no flop, and the cheese was fresh & so dang good. We had some minor issues with the combo pricing, but Joe fixed everything & made it right. He is an up front owner who takes pride in his menu & customer support. It really won us over. Not only is the pizza cooked to perfection, but the foundation of his business is built on something wonderful. Our daughter is currently a National championship college soccer player, and we are SO looking forward to hopefully coming back next year. Slice will be our first stop. Thanks again, Joe & family!!!

Love this pizza so much! The sauce is so fresh tasting. My favorite is the upside down, but I seriously want to try them all. We got it the first time passing through and had to come back (from Syracuse) for more. The owner overheard that and came out to greet us personally. My son and I have been going to slice for the last 7 years We absolutely love the consistency of the amazing pizza they make. It’s definitely our go-to when we are in the Utica area. Take out only. Pizza was okay, slightly above average. Portnoy gave them a 7.7, I’m thinking more like 6.2. Crust was thick and had no crunch. Sort of floppy, but tasted good.
Owner responded that I shouldn’t disagree with Dave P. Unfortunately, the pizza that I received was NOT the same as Dave did. I stand by my review, that it was floppy and was lacking crunch, because it’s was too thick/doughy. It seems there may be differences between crews, times of day or something. But, I know what I got, and it wasn’t terrible, but it also wasn’t ‘great. Sorry.

i ordered Hawaii pizza today. so disappointed. it paid for $28. it’s not good. when you eat the food, usually the food makes you happy but this pizza from this restaurant, it’s not. so bad that makes me stressed. while i hold the pizza all the toppings falls spreads from the bread. it’s so annoying and depressed. as you can see in the picture, the crunch are burned overcooked. not gonna order here again. so disappointed.

So I’m from Queens and have had pizza all over NYC and the boros all my adult life so Pizza is my jam. Ordered the NY Slice after our college tour and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with their pizza at Slice. The tomato sauce tastes homemade reminds me of my grandma’s sauce. The crust was soft and had that little crunch I love and the cheese was ooey gooey deelish. The service was great too. My son gobbled up the cheesecake. I highly recommend them! ❤️

I’ve been coming here for over 4 years and used to recommend this place to everyone. Unfortunately, the quality and service have gone downhill. It now takes forever to get a pizza, and what used to be great NY-style slices are now no better than what you’d get from a chain — definitely not thin, crisp, or consistent anymore.
What’s worse is how the owner handles feedback. Instead of taking criticism professionally, he hunts down reviews and tries to mock customers by offering free food to anyone who comes in to “laugh” at them. Honestly, even if the food were free, it wouldn’t be worth it.
It’s a shame to see a spot I loved in college fall this far. My boyfriend and I now get pizza from Savage across the street — they have real NYC-style slices, great service, and honest wait times. The owner here can make jokes about a food truck all he wants, but the fact that we’d rather get pizza from a trailer with no running water says everything about how much this place has declined.
I support savage because we always leave much more satisfied with our order, the guys are great and have pride in the work they put out.

Went here on the recommendation of a business partner, and I was not disappointed. Make sure you order their char grilled purple cow wings. Not sure what the purple cow sauce is made of, but it is this amazing tasty sticky mix that is very hard to distinguish a single dominant flavor with. And while you’re at it, get yourself a slice, they are as big as your head. Keeping the theme going I had a slice of purple cow pizza, and it was beyond delicious. Also, this was on barstool pizza review and scored a 7.7.
