Skol Woodfire Grill is a hidden gem inside the Petro center. The all-you-can-eat buffet is amazing tons of options, fresh food, and a great value. The full-service bar and dining area are comfortable, clean, and genuinely inviting. The whole place has a cool, relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to sit down and actually enjoy your meal.
They also have an outdoor area that’s perfect for people who want fresh air on a nice day, and even a sheltered smoking area that blocks the wind. Thoughtful setup all around. Definitely worth stopping for a real meal instead of fast food.

My review is based on 3 separate visits to & from Minnesota in the last 3 months.
First of all it’s located inside a large travel center with many souvenir opportunities after you eat then you can fill up your gas tank as well.
My wife & I are both Scandinavian so we loved the Viking/Nordic theme.
We have ordered the Brisket Melt w Mac & Cheese & the Skol classic breakfast & we’ve also ordered twice the Breakfast Tot- Chos ( Large plate of tots covered with gravy, Cheese & Eggs ) Everything has been delicious & served quickly.
My only knock on the place is you have to get your own beverages & when paying your bill you have to stand in line at the cash register, but other than that we will gladly rerurn.

2025/11/30: Solon is a fun trickster diner, with a serve-yourself or waiter experience. The Wood fired barbecue is great. I had the meat plate and tried everything: ribs, pulled pork, brisket and sausage. I dis not like the side of buttered mushrooms – I don’t like canned mushrooms. My wife loved her burger.
The waiter was nice, the truck driver, Juan, at the table next to us was friendly. He showed us pictures of his daughter in Houston who grooms dogs. The janitor i met at the door was nice – I learned a bit about the garbage pickup schedule.
We’ll make Skol one of our regular stops on our road trips.

A pretty cut and dry 3 star location. Excessively mediocre in every way. The brisket was pretty solid, but then the ribs and meatloaf were bad to make up for it. Plus, it’s not cheap. It’s also understaffed so the wait time for service was a bit slow. Don’t be fooled by the gimmicky display.

The server was so helpful! We’ve never dined here and she was so awesome the way she explained everything! And her service was great! She kept checking in but not too much, remembered everything off the top of her head-didn’t even write our order down but got our order 100% correct! It has a very nice, inviting atmosphere will definitely be returning!!! Thank you for the wonderful service! We got so much for such a great price! Got half a rack of ribs, a wood-fired chicken breast and mashed potatoes and gravy was very pleased my bf had a pound of beef brisket and the Mac n cheese-it was all very delicious I can’t wait to go back!

The aesthetic of the restaurant was good. I would have been okay with the price of the food if it was edible. Both of us ordered steak and I should have sent them back. Both were over done and dry, so much so that steak sauce did not help. For the price I was disappointed in this meal.

Good travel stop! Food, fish advertised as fresh & crisp, absolutely Wasn’t, if you can tell from pix, it was limp & soggy, but starving & tasted ok regardless. I would give it a 3 of 10. The chix fried steak rated 6 of 10. The Petrol facility overall was nice, clean & had just about everything you may need or want.
