A favorite of locals, this southern bar-b-que join located in a small strip plaza close to the “pyramid”. There are several BBQ restaurants in the area and all pretty good. Each have their own sauces, so it comes down to sauce taste preference. I like theirs the best. They also serve dry so you an add any of four sauces at the table. People like their Brunswick stew. they have some. Burgers and a Oconee dog to add to their selection of barbecue items. Pricing standard pricing, dishes servings are not overly generous and without any extras….ie. bread. Sit-in meals in a restaurant that has red and white checked tables is a nice change. Food is served on styrofoam partitioned containers. Staff is efficient and southern friendly.

There are plenty of places that serve up BBQ because down here in the South, “BBQ is king”. That being said…many of those BBQ places are NOT worth going to. Fortunately for me, this is not one of those places. In my opinion, Sisson’s Old South Bar-Be-Que has some of the best BBQ for miles and I can assure you that you will not leave this place hungry.

Pork was moist and our favorite of all. We didn’t care for the wings as they were really too crunchy and dry on the outside but meat was moist. The chili has beans in it so I wasn’t a fan. Although, I did like the brisket meat in the chili. Ribs were average. Coleslaw is not mayo- based. All the bbq sauces were great – lots of variety sweet, spicy, mustard, and mild. We were disappointed the desserts weren’t homemade. Our coconut cream pie was served to us partially frozen. We would have liked to have tried the baked beans; however, they had run out. Atmosphere is pleasant and clean. The service was good.

I love this place! It has a homey, family owned style atmosphere inside and based on the aesthetic alone you know the food is going to be delicious… and it is! I ordered the beef brisket with brunswick stew, my wife ordered the same, and our three year old got the mac and cheese (of course). Everything was delicious and we were very satisfied. Skip all the major chain style barbecue restaurants and give this one a shot if you have not done so.

Really wanted a burger, and fries, exhaust system is apparently broken. However having said that, angel made the very quick experience awesome, super beautiful also. I’ve never had brisket and I live pretty far from here, I’ll be coming back all the time just for the brisket. It’s amazing. The absolute best. I think, well it’s the only place I’ve had it.

Drove past the location today and smelt the smoked meat. Decided to stop and try it out. I order the “I don’t know what I want plate” brisket, pulled pork, ribs Mac and cheese, green beans and Texas toast. I waited all of about 5 minutes, staff where pleasant and polite. Food, the ribs tasted moist and smoked with oak, sauce was sweet but no over powering, brisket had an nice smoked red ring all the way around, it was just right, pulled pork was on point, moist and smokie green beans and Mac and cheese tasted home made and made with love. I would highly recommend trying Sissons Old South BBQ. I’ll be back.

The food was delicious however the dine in experience was definitely not what we were expecting. We arrived at 2:45 and placed our order. The entire time we were eating 4 employees were at the register talking about how it was their lunch break and they get an hour for lunch. One volenterred to stay behind and lock the door while the others went ahead. She told them to order for her and she would eat when she got there. They refused saying then your food will be cold and your drink will be watered down. If they were planning to close we should have been told they were taking take out orders only. Very disappointed and will not be going back. The food was good but we also pay for courteous service and relaxed atmosphere. We will find other places to eat.
