The best lunch I’ve had in a long time. The staff were friendly, and we were seated promptly. Our appetizers were wonderful, I loved the Crab Rangoon it was wonderfully crunchy and the sauce it came with it had a great flavor.

Our entrees came out shortly thereafter and the BBQ Basil Duck blew me away. The vegetables had a perfect texture. The true standouts were the duck, crispy basil leaves and sauce. They played together so well, and made that dish. I cannot recommend it enough. Every last bite was wonderful, getting every drop of the sauce soaked up by the rice ensured nothing went to waste.

We will be returning within the week for another wonderful meal, this is the best Thai food that I’ve had, and the prices are very reasonable with great lunch specials.

I can’t say enough about this Thai restaurant! The food quality exceeded my expectations, and the prices were very reasonable. We came and celebrated a special occasion at this Thai restaurant and it was a fantastic choice for a party of 8 around 6:00pm on a Friday! The overall experience was top-notch. The ambiance was inviting, the staff were attentive, and the place was impeccably clean with a nice setting. Our party had a wonderful time, and I can’t wait to return for another memorable gathering. Highly recommend!

Love this place. Typically get for from here every week or 2. Food is excellent and I believe rivals any Thai in the Dayton area. I done in for lunch or usually call for takeout for dinners and it’s just very good. The owner is friendly and remembers people and their orders … Or maybe I am just there quite often. Lol

I must preface this by saying I virtually never leave a review for a restaurant. I worked in restaurants for the greater portion of a decade, and so I am extremely understanding when it comes to how restaurants function.

However, what I experienced at Singha Thai this past Sunday is something I have never encountered in my life. I had previously been to Singha Thai several times and the food was great! The service has always been uncomfortable and awkward, but it was worth enduring for the food.

This past Sunday my friend and I entered Singhai Thai at 12:02pm, two minutes after they opened. I was very excited to introduce him to Thai food-it was to be his first Thai meal. When we walked in, the restaurant was completely empty except for one small table in the corner with a singular person sitting there. Seeing as how we were NOT greeted, and there is ZERO room to wait at the door (truly, as soon as you enter, you are directly in the middle of the restaurant and therefore in the way), we sat down at one of the over 20 empty tables in front of the cash register, where the only worker on the floor was standing.

Here is where the worker’s behavior becomes either atrocious, or atrocious and racist! My friend and I had been speaking in Spanish, and very quietly at that. A couple minutes pass by and we are not given menus. A table walks in, sits down, and is given menus. Another table walks in and gets menus. A third table then walks in, sits down, and receives menus. Mind you, only one of those tables asked where to sit. At that point in time, when the waitress is clearly avoiding our table was getting ready to ignore us and walk by again I said: “Could we get some menus please?” Without saying anything, but with a disgruntled look on her face, she reluctantly goes back to the counter, grabs two menus, gives them to us without saying ANYTHING, walks back up to the counter, and very gently adjusts a tiny sign, 4″ by 4″, next to the cash register that, in cursive, says “Please wait to be seated.”

What was her goal??? To punish us for not waiting? When there was no sign by the door, no space to wait, and no greeting as we walked in to acknowledge us, AS SHE STARED US DOWN! In my wildest dreams I can’t imagine a worker in a restaurant intentionally ignoring customers to quote unquote teach them a lesson. I truly hope that it was just the worker’s totally inappropriate and insanely rude attitude that prevented her from serving our table. However, after reading several other reviews, and going off of the very obvious tone and smugness, I fear that she didn’t serve us because we were speaking in Spanish.

At any rate, my jaw on the floor, I told my friend that we should leave and go somewhere else.

I will NEVER go back to Singha Thai. And I will actively warn friends not to go there. This is such embarrassingly inappropriate behavior for a restaurant!

Edit: A few years later, and still the best Thai food in Dayton. (They know me by name – the food is seriously that good.) Try the basil fried rice!!

Best Thai food in Dayton. I’ve tried so many Thai places, and this place is absolutely amazing! My favorites include pad thai, spicy eggplant, basil fried rice, red curry, and mango sticky rice.

***Review of dining experience is from June. I wanted to go today for lunch but saw on their website that they are on limited menu & hours until July 13th.***

Really good lunch menu options. I dined in on a weekday around 1130am. Food was presented fresh, hot, and in a timely manner. I will definitely return.
My meal cost just under $20
Lunch Param w/beef & white rice
complimentary veg. soup
Fresh Summer rolls w/shrimp
(In my photo there are two sauces because I requested a peanut sauce)
Iced Tea

Best Thai food in Dayton hands down. Always great food and service. The owners are very nice and staff is always friendly. Their appetizers always hit the spot… Tom-Kha Soup, fresh summer rolls, and Crab Rangoon are some of our favorites but never had a bad dish off their menu!

Very very good! Doesn’t look like anything fancy from the outside but their food is beautiful and delicious. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Servings were large and we had plenty of leftovers. I ordered my tom yum noodle soup a level 3 spicy and it was SPICY! Our level 2 bbq basil duck was perfect. Appetizer of tempura taro and sweet potatoes was light and tasty. The avocado salad was perfect and the thai iced teas were devine!
