I had the honor on July 8th to be their first customer after being closed all this time. It smelled wonderful as they were doing barbecue. I had the best, most refreshing mule. Actually, I drank two. It was perfect for that hot day. I ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf. It had a nice, smokey flavor and just a touch of heat from pepper. The sweet cornbread served with honey was so good, it could be served as dessert. The coleslaw is not your traditional kind. This is made with tangy barbecue sauce. I sadly didn’t care for it. The baked beans were tasty, though. I wished I could have stayed longer to drink some more mules. Those were so good! I need to get back there soon.

Lovely place to sit down with the family and eat a very tasty meal! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is old world! They have a player piano for everyone entertainment, as well as speakers yo play regular music, and for any sports fans they always have something with sports on! I would recommend to everyone!

Went there today for lunch. First visit was awesome today was not so good. Ordered the angus burger medium was raw, waiter was on his phone and talking to buddies had to flag him down for second cup of coffee and pop. Bathroom as dirty. So Disappointed.

Was very disappointed in our experience. I remember when it opened a few years back how nice and up scale it seemed. When we arrived, the staff was outside in front smoking. The 2 women waitressing were dressed very casually, sweat pants, tshirts, jeans. One of them had their long hair down and kept playing with it, which is gross. The cocktail drinks we had were not very good. My husbands old fashioned had too much liquor and was oddly carbonated. He couldn’t drink it. The menu has changed which is a bit disappointing. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The food we ordered was good tasting. The bacon wrapped meatloaf is a huge portion and good! Overall was disappointed with this visit. The service was the best we’ve had in the times we’ve visited the Sing-a-long.

My brother and I took our dad there this afternoon. We listened and sang along to several of the piano rolls and my dad had a great time! This is his favorite type of entertainment. I would also add that the food was quite good and our waitress was prompt and helpful. We had some fries with cheese and gravy on them and I had the soup and salad bar. The sausage and green bean soup was very very good! The salad bar was quite fine. We will definitely be back with family so dad can enjoy more singing along to the piano rolls!

Best burger I’ve had so far in Eastern Iowa. Joe is the son of the owner and usually starts playing live music Thursday-Saturdays. Great atmosphere.

This place is a hidden gem among restaurants in historic mount vernon. The food is addictive and very good. The wait is very short for food to be served. As you sit and enjoy you soon realize you’re the entertainment for the evening. A player piano plays as the owner leads the singing. Taking request from one and all, the experience is amazing. Come for the food stay for the fun. A pleasant time will be enjoyed.

We love this place so much! Awesome atmosphere and completely unique…If you haven’t been to the Sing-a-long you are missing out!!! Fabulous food, excellent salad bar, and rotating soups that are bold and full of culinary exploration (aka not your run of the mill soups). Go there!
