4/14/23: Excellent ribs. Maybe the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had ribs all over the country including in Memphis and Kansas City. I asked the friendly owners and they explained their elaborate cooking process and it pays off. The brisket sandwich is very good too. Also the restaurant is in a very cool historical building and they have a pool table and corn hole which you can play while you wait for the food. Definitely worth a visit. If I lived in this town I’d be here all the time!

This place is amazing. Should be a 6 star rating. Amazing food and a great atmosphere. I was passing through Susanville and stopped for a quick bite and this ranks as one of my best decisions. Brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese. Best Mac and cheese I have ever had! If you are in Susanville or passing through, eating here is a must.

Had lunch today, it was wonderful. The burger is hand pressed, has an onion ring topping and delicious sauce! The owners are super nice! Can’t wait to go back and try the BBQ. Highly recommend.

The food was great. Best I ever had. Their steak was big enough to feed two people and was cooked to perfection. Loved there BBQ sauce. The workers are super friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Absolutely amazing experience, we had an incredibly professional, attentive, and polite waitress Madison, amazing recommendations, and even better food. Giant portions! so come here if you’re starving, I took about a quarter out of my ‘side’ of Mac and cheese and I am stuffed. Messed up one of our orders in a slight misunderstanding and they topped off my party member’s wine AND made her the steak she payed for right away. The cook even brought out the food himself and explained what had happened and apologized personally. Not to mention the historic building and games to play while waiting (as mentioned in the other reviews). The only negative thing was the lack of customers! I’ll be recommending this place to anyone passing through from now on and if I ever visit Susanville again .

After reading the reviews, we had high hopes. Friendly staff. Huge portions. Enormous steak knives. Beans were tasty. BBQ sauce was perfect. Steak rub was tasty. Food was cold. Sweet rubs were all empty. Brisket was dry. Sausage tasted like something you’d get out the store deli. Mac and cheese was lacking flavor and cold. Fried green tomatoes were over cooked.

It has been fantastic to stop at Side Iron BBQ for dinner. The food was delicious, the staff was really kind and the environment was really friendly. I was there with some friends and we had the chance to play pool and cornhole after dinner! Amazing! If you plan a stop in Susanville, you must visit the Side Iron BBQ
