I absolutely LOVE Shunfeng; this is always my go-to place for Chinese food in Santa Cruz, and I think this restaurant spoiled me a little too much—even Home Eat wasn’t as good as this. Love the food here; I’ve had it multiple times here for dine-in, delivery, and takeout as well. I recommend using their own delivery to help out the college students! Love the owner; she’s so optimistic, I always feel welcomed here. 100% recommend.

As a student here at Santa Cruz that does not allow to have a car on campus until junior year, it is PAINFUL, but I am glad that this restaurant has delivery themselves, and they are college students as well!! (Help the students out, please!!!) Anyways, back to the food, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. It tastes like home. It might be a little more salty for some people, but as a person from the northeast of China, it tastes like home, and I love to eat it with rice!!

Loved the food here. Super tasty and full of wok hei! Dishes come out fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The service is friendly and the vibe is relaxed. Every time I come to Santa Cruz, this is a must-eat spot!

Established restaurant boasts Singaporean style noodles as one of their specialties. This place is tucked back in the far end of the strip shopping center. Main person Jessie is very chatty and recommends dishes. Service is very quick. General sweet and sour tofu, Chinese wood ear mushroom salad (very interesting crispy mushrooms), eggplant tofu garlic, sesame balls were the best. Onion pancake served with a sauce were okay. Vegetable chowmein and crispy tofu were disappointing. Both Crispy tofu and General tofu are pretty similar, later is sweet and sour. Overall it’s okay in all aspects. Found food bit salty. Highly recommend asking them to make it less salty.

I made a special reservation for my birthday and asked them to prepare some signature dishes. It was my first time trying this style of crab, and the side ingredients were perfectly balanced — absolutely delicious. If you want to enjoy authentic Chinese food, be sure to call ahead and give them enough time to prepare, and they will serve you the best dishes.

Shun Feng is an excellent home-style Chinese restaurant that can make everyone happy! They’re a small but cute shop that sports an impressively large menu with a diverse amount of dishes that can appeal to lots of different expectations for Chinese food.

If you’re looking for more Chinese American-style food like the classic Chinese takeaway items such as chow mein, sweet & sour chicken, egg foo young, spring rolls, and fried rice, they got you covered!

However, if you want more “authentic” Chinese cooking, they have a lot of classic dishes that span from Cantonese, Sichuanese, northern-style cuisines, and more from China, so if you’re the kind of person who prefers more traditional Chinese cooking, they have plenty to offer for you to! This place will probably be a legit spot for international Chinese students studying at UCSC/Cabrillo.

Personally, I think the Santa Cruz area has some okay Chinese restaurants, but they are more focused on either the American style or if they are more “authentic”, then they lean more towards the modern style of Chinese food, both of which are great in their own ways.

However, Shun Feng stands out to me because they can do both Chinese American and classic Chinese styles very well, and they have a home-style to it that reminds me of a Chinese mom or grandma cooking for you.

The service was also great! The staff was so kind to me and spoke both English and Mandarin. I actually forgot my bag there, and they held onto it for me for a whole week before I picked it up. I’ll definitely be coming back again to try some more of their menu the next time I am in Santa Cruz!

I love dumplings! My partner asked me where I wanted to eat, I chose this spot. We were trying to avoid heavy traffic, decided to stay in town for a while before heading south.

I tried the Hot Dumplings #107 and the A05 Shrimp Shap Mai. Delicious! It was plenty of food. I couldnt finish it all. Soo good in my opinion. He ordered dinner #16. Also delicious. The sweet and sour chicken had great flavor. Will definately eat here in the future.

Restaraunt is clean and the staff is kind and welcoming. Plenty of seating. Plenty of parking.

Worst meal. Three of us came for lunch. It was the worst meal we’ve had in a long time. My eggplant in black bean sauce was mostly eggplant skin and tough. My wife’s chicken with cashews stunk so bad of rotten fish, that she asked them to do it without the sauce, which they claimed was shrimp sauce. When they brought the replacement dish back it had no cashews, still stunk and the meat was clearly not chicken. It looked like some kind of cheap fish. We left hungry and will never go back. Awful experience.
