Nice little place to eat while traveling thru Livingston. It was lunchtime and I order the lunch plate and a cup of gumbo. My side order was the grits.

I took my uncle there today and we both were craving seafood. Disappointed is an understatement. The place smelled musty when we walked in and it was downhill from there. From the appetizer to the main course. We ordered the Magnolia pedals (fried onion), crawfish bites, fried shrimp and fried catfish. It all smelled and tasted like old grease. The hushpuppies too. Horrible. The only thing good was the Mac and cheese. I paid $76.42 and it was terrible. I do not recommend this place at all.

Red beans, sausage, and rice were very flavorful. Dirty rice and Mac and cheese were really good too. Rest of the family seemed to like their dishes. Wish the cocktail sauce had more of a kick. Thought the conversation starters in the middle of the table were neat. Got everyone talking about family stories we hadn’t heard from each other before.

We’ve lived in the area for years and just now tried Shrimp Boat Manny’s. We have been missing out! I had the catfish with Mac and cheese and Cajun rice. The fish was fried to perfection. Crispy outside tender inside, and the flavor was phenomenal. The Mac and cheese was delicious. I didn’t care for the Cajun rice, but that’s probably because my sister in laws recipe is killer. For dessert, we split a deep fried pecan pie. If you only order one thing here, make it this pie. It was unbelievable. The sweet tea was fresh. The waitress is attentive. We will be back often.

Great meal, great service! The food was delicious. Loved the grilled catfish, shrimp kebabs, hush puppies and coleslaw. Great local place run by a local family. Read the back of the menu (see photos) for the story of this place with great Cajun heritage. Beautiful stained glass windows. For us Northerners, “boudin” is a pork/shrimp/rice ball. Very tasty. If you want to experience excellent Cajun cuisine, this is the place!

Had heard good things about SBM’s for other Escapees at the Rainbows End campgrounds… and they were right.
We started with the fried green tomatoes and fried mushrooms… both were clearly made in-house AS were both dipping sauces.
The Mrs got their chicken tenders dinner and I got the large Gulf shrimp dinner. For being in East Texas… it was really good.
Definitely not the healthiest option, but nearly everything was homemade and darn tasty

WOW – a great place to eat., The staff is friendly, proficient and the food was the best in everything we ate. I am from the south, I thought I knew fried fish & shrimp but my eyes opened eating here. Great food and staff! They have their own sauces, try them, they are great

The poboy was mediocre and everything was hardly seasoned. The gumbo was okay if I had to go again that’s all I think I would order. But I definitely won’t go out of my way to eat here.
