In 1947, the first Shoney’s drive-in restaurant was opened in Charleston, West Virginia. Five years later, the name was changed to Big Boy Restaurants – only to be renamed three years later to what is now known as Shoney’s. 30 years after kicking off as a Big Boy franchise, Shoney’s dropped the affiliation, swapping its iconic Big Boy mascot for our very own Shoney bear. As Shoney’s, the family-friendly restaurant expanded steadily, rolling out scores of new locations. Under the direction of Shoney’s Chairman and CEO David Davoudpour, we continue to pride ourselves on delicious tasting food, great value and great service. We couldn’t pass up the chance to eat here as one of the last Shoney’s left in Ohio, and boy did it bring back some part memories. The buffet had everything to choose from and each item was fresh and plentiful. This place was super clean and each associate was friendly and inviting. Not often you’ll find employees that truly care about whether you’ve enjoyed for experience and if you fully satisfied with your visit but seemed very concerned that you were. Thanks for the trip down memory lane keep up the great service.

Been a long time since I’ve been here. Went to the breakfast buffet with my son. Very pleased with all the choices. Food was very fresh and tasty. Totally recommend breakfast buffet

Came for the breakfast buffet. Atmosphere was dingy and everything felt sticky and dirty. I don’t mind the old diner look and feel of a place, but this just felt like nothing had been wiped down in a hot minute. Buffet was warm and good and tasted great. Server was a sweetheart.

Sat there and watched people get called ahead of me that came in after with more people in on their party than mine. Got up and asked the general manager why we weren’t called yet. She got very rude saying they called my name many times. This was untrue as I sat inside the store the entire time. They had my name crossed off on the paper list like we were sat already. Yes they were busy but it is not ok to be rude to customers when they question why they have not been sat yet. Also this manager came in to work after I was already there and on the list as I watched her walk through the door.

Stopped during a gas station stop. Friends we were traveling with hadn’t saw a Shoneys in a while and wanted to stop. And I assume this is the reason they have closed so many. This was in no way a great place. Middle of the pack at best.
