A lovely spot for breakfast. The food is fresh and tasty, portions are satisfying, and the coffee is well made. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed morning. Service is friendly, though it can get a bit busy at peak times.

We recently stopped by The Shine Cafe and had an overall good experience with a few areas that could use improvement.

I ordered the “Double Trouble” — French toast loaded with cookie dough, Oreos, Nutella, and chocolate sauce. Let me just say… that dish is a train straight to diabetes. In all seriousness, it was absolutely delicious and indulgent, but definitely on the overly sweet side. If you have a serious sweet tooth, this one’s for you.

My wife went with the Classic Eggs Benedict, and that was excellent — well-balanced flavors and cooked just right. The breakfast potatoes, however, were a bit bland. They were cooked well texture-wise but could definitely use more seasoning.

Service was so-so, though it seemed like they were pretty busy, which likely played a role. The location is great — conveniently about a mile from Woodside Bible Church, one of the largest churches in Michigan — so I can imagine it gets especially packed on weekends.

One important note: restroom maintenance needs attention. With only a single restroom per gender, cleanliness is critical. My wife noticed the toilet seat wasn’t clean, which is something that should be addressed promptly, especially in a high-traffic establishment.

Overall, the food quality was strong, particularly the main dishes, and we’d likely return — but there are definitely a few operational details that could elevate the experience.

Cute diner café with VERY large portions.

– coffee(unlimited),
-Pancakes(3) and chicken tenders (6 per order )
Total : $26.50 (before tip)

Chipotle hotsauce on table complimented the perfectly fried tenders well. Pancakes had a great crisp edge to contrast with fluffy center. Delicious! Bring a friend to share a meal with or enjoy leftovers next day. Plenty of food to share.

Fantastic breakfast with a huge selection. Love the bowls and the omelets. Next time I need to try a Benedict.

This is an average (at best) breakfast/brunch restaurant/diner. The omelettes are very disappointing. We ordered two, and both had congealed/unmelted lumps of cheese throughout. Made them virtually inedible. The specialty pancakes and french toast options are good, but beware, they are extremely sweet. I feel it is overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food. Breakfast for four was $100 with tip. $4 kids fountain drinks seems excessive.

The pancakes are moist and fluffy. The food is good and has plenty of options. Our container of butter had food stuck on it. The chicken was okay but was not impressed by them. We saw a cat escape the pet spa next door, which is great for entertainment if you are an animal person. The waitress was attentive, the food came out quickly, the ambiance was cozy, and customers from different tables smiled and waved, so I felt a friendly atmosphere. I know it’s a keeper when I saw the “Unicorns are real” sign. I will come back to try the biscuits and gravy or the Omelet.

New in the neighborhood, figured I’d try the local place. It was excellent, my wife ordered the French Toast Monte Cristo, the berry compote was fantastic. I got the Dublin Eggs Benedict, they were delicious. I thought the prices seemed high for breakfast, but worth it because they fill the whole plate. Waitress was quick to grab my autistic grandson a plate of fries so we could look over the menu for a minute. We’ll be back.
