Came here for dinner and had such a great experience! The service was amazing super friendly and attentive. The menu was a little limited, but everything we ordered was delicious. The music, ambiance, and drinks were all on point definitely the perfect vibe for a relaxing night out.

Love Love this spot. Great food. Lovely romantic atmosphere. It was a rainy afternoon so not much of a view but on a sunny day.. SF views are so worth it. Wonderful staff. Everyone speaks more than one language which is a big plus for me. I need more stars 5 is not enough.

I came on a date here & our experience was definitely a night to remember but not in a good way. The view was beautiful- but that was the only good thing. The drinks were not the best & the food was bland – everything looked pretty just wished it tasted as good as it looked.

The highlight of the dinner was definitely us asking for the check- we wait sooooo long that we both ended up going to the bathroom almost at the same time (they were discussing) he got stuck waiting in line so I was taking pictures to wait for him –

We were trying to make the most of the night so as we were walking back from the bathroom to our table that we should have still had, we were talking about how we should order a shot since the check is taking long & the drinks we tried we didn’t like but we wanted an alcoholic drink BUT that got thrown out IMMEDIATELY once I saw our table – the couple that was next to us MOVED TO OUR TABLE – I was SPEECHLESS, they hadn’t given us our check but they cleaned off the table and moved someone to it? When the whole time we were eating it took forever to get anything cleared. I know they knew we weren’t done because the tables are so close to each other – they were just stuck up people who do not have manners. So after that UNNECESSARY interaction with that couple I was OVER IT- I proceeded to find the server and he was like “I thought you guys were done, I was looking for you guys but couldn’t find you” like I said I was taking pictures &never did I see him pop his head into the bathrooms that are literally open so he didn’t have to go in to see me right there LOLLLLL it is just unbelievable that he assumed we had left when it had been well over 30 minutes since we had asked him for the check. That he still went to go print so how is it that he was looking for us to give us the check? Lollllll The bill was almost 300 – so you can’t say we were being cheap and that’s why we didn’t get good service. So yeah unforgettable night!

I always try to handle situations calmly and avoid conflict, but what happened to us at your New Year’s Eve 2025<2026 event at Shelby’s Rooftop left me completely shocked.

We purchased tickets to the New Year’s Eve 2025/2026 | Shelby’s Rooftop event for $170 per person. Upon arrival, we discovered that we were expected to carry a table ourselves and manually remove rainwater from it. There were only six tables on the terrace, yet all metal chairs had been removed and locked in a separate room.

I have a ligament tear in my right leg and have been limping for over a month. Standing from 10PM to 1AM was physically very difficult for me. I approached a staff member named Ryan and politely asked for a chair due to my condition. He refused and responded, “It’s not my issue.” After I explained that I had a leg injury, he replied, “Why did you even come here?”

I was completely speechless. Telling a person with a disability or injury “why did you come here” is absolutely unacceptable and discriminatory. The implication was clear: people with physical limitations are not welcome at your venue. This type of treatment toward individuals with disabilities is not normal, not ethical, and may be legally actionable.

There were only six tables, and it would have been extremely easy to leave the metal chairs available so guests could sit during a four-hour New Year’s Eve event—especially considering the ticket price was close to $200, which included only two cocktails and nothing else.

As a result of this experience, I am deeply disappointed and feel very uncomfortable returning to your establishment. This was not the level of service or basic human respect one would expect, especially on New Year’s Eve.

Great city views & delicious food. We got the Charcuterie board with fresh farmed honeycomb! So delicious! The tuna tartare was a fan favorite. For our mains, we got the paella and roasted chicken. With city of views and great food I would definitely come here again. Parking is a little challenging. You either have to valet or do street parking.

Great Potential…i’ll be back. It wouldn’t be fair to rate this place as we arrived for lunch and the weather wasn’t the best for alfresco dining. However, this place was suggested by friends who frequent many San Francisco restaurants in search of great experiences. The restaurant sits on top of The Canopy Hotel, which seems to have had an amazing refresh at the hands of a talented designer. The downstairs bar and lounge of the restaurant is definitely worth a visit, although it was not open when I was there.
Shelby’s rooftop, was not busy when we arrived and as well appointed, although a bit of a letdown visually after walking through the hotel lobby. Service is strong as is the food. The chef and the menu seems to pride itself and texture and small by delight. The atmosphere, it’s a rooftop bar and restaurant… fairly rare in San Francisco, so it gets top rating. It could have a better view, it could have a designer flare, but I”ll bet in the evening as the sun is going down on a rare warmish night, it’s fabulous. There’s outdoor heaters, so maybe even on a chilly night. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Lovely rooftop bar and restaurant. The cocktails and wine selection was top tier… Staff was amazing and friendly. The live DJ on Friday night was awesome. We’ll definitely come back and add this to our list of downtown hot spots. Thanks

The first time we went there for early dinner at 4:30 p.m. It was a beautiful day, but very windy. We didn’t sit outside against the wall; where we sat, there was a rolling glass wall that protected us from the wind. That was pretty cool. The service was great. We ordered three orders of oysters on the half shell. Each order came with six oysters at $22 each. One wine cost $46. For seven people, our bill was about $429. The saffron pappardelle with added chicken ($8.00) was very good. The pasta portion was huge and it tasted very nice. I didn’t eat the oysters, but my kids said they were good, but not $22 for a half dozen good. We didn’t take a lot of scenery pictures because it was really windy. I did, however, take pictures of some of the dishes we ordered. I think it would be more beautiful at night with San Francisco in the background. If you’ve never been here for dinner, I definitely recommend it. One funny thing on my bill I’d never seen before was the 6% SF Health Mandate. I looked this up and believe we were paying 6% of our bill for employee healthcare. Please correct me if I’m wrong; this is the first time I’ve seen this on any restaurant bill. Oh, I would recommend to do reservations for this place.

We visited on a Sunday night and it felt very cozy and laid back… the drinks were rooftop-priced, but not too expensive, staff was nice and ambience really 10/10

This is my second time trying Shelby’s. Both were average. Food is decent but not great. Prices are high for the quality of the meals. The views are fine but not memorable by any means. The host needs to take a course in hospitality — on my second visit I said we just wanted to have some cocktails. The response was a dismissive “you can sit at the bar” and then literally we were dismissed. Did they walk us to the bar? Nope. Did they give us an option for any number of tables with a time limit considering existing reservations? Nope. That said when we found the bar ourselves the bar staff were amazing. Honestly I’d pass on this place. There are places with better views. There are places with better food. There are places with better prices.
