When we walked into Shark Bar & Kitchen, the atmosphere was classic, cool neighborhood bar—perfect for watching the Carolina Panthers game. But let me tell you, the moment we caught the scent of seriously good seasoning, everything changed. When a sports bar menu starts dropping high-end ingredients like “Duck Fat” and “Caviar,” you know you’re in for a surprise, and this spot absolutely delivered!
We ordered a few things just to test the waters, and the results were jaw-dropping:
The WOW Factor Dishes
• Duck Fat Kettle Chips w/ Whipped Crème Fraîche + Caviar: UNBELIEVABLE. I’ve had caviar on my travels to Brazil, but this was a revelation. The chips were crisp, the crème fraîche was smooth and creamy, and the caviar was fresh and perfectly salty. The combination is a textural and flavor masterpiece—a truly elevated bar snack that you must try.
• Grilled Oysters (topped with Parmesan cheese): Forget a 10/10; these were a 15/10! Perfectly grilled, smoky, and topped with a savory, melted Parmesan finish. A must-order.
• Market Fish Sandwich (Blackened Flounder): Top notch! The flounder was seasoned brilliantly and cooked perfectly. The balance of the blackened fish with the slaw, sliced jalapeño, and tartar sauce created a flavor explosion that was out of this world.
The Service That Earned the Stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
We had one initial hiccup with the Crab Fingers (hand-tossed, fried crab claws)—the first batch wasn’t as fresh as the other food. However, our waitress was a superstar! We let her know, and without hesitation, she had the chef prepare a brand-new order from the crabs delivered that day. The fresh batch was a HOMERUN. This is the kind of service that shows they truly care about quality and customer experience.
Final Verdict
Shark Bar & Kitchen is now our W.O.W. Location: Wrightsville Outstanding Win! It’s a spectacular spot that deserves recognition not just as a great bar, but as a serious foodie destination. Easily a 4.5-star experience and now in my top 5 places to eat in Wrightsville Beach. I only hope I can get a table every time we return!

There is no better option when looking for a premium seafood dinner. I had an amazing experience at Shark Bar Restaurant! The sushi was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every roll we tried was perfectly balanced and clearly made with care and skill. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite.

The sushi was amazing! James made incredible sushi— every roll was fresh and presented beautifully! Brian was the bartender and he made one of the best espresso martinis I’ve ever had! As someone visiting from out of town, I highly recommend Shark bar and will be back the next time I visit!

I had the best sushi experience I’ve ever had at Red Cat Sushi at Shark Bar. From the first bite, you could tell the fish was incredibly fresh — clean, buttery, and full of flavor. Every roll was crafted so well and completely different from anything I’ve had before. The Sushi Chef, James has a true gift with sushi and made some excellent and unique rolls. The combinations were creative without being overcomplicated, and each one tasted balanced and unique.
On top of the amazing sushi, the bartender Brian made one of the best Old Fashioneds I’ve ever had. It was smooth, perfectly balanced, and paired so well with the meal. Between the quality of the fish, the originality of the rolls, and the top-tier cocktail, it was hands down an unforgettable experience.

Sharks Bar is such a great spot—really close to the beach, which makes it super convenient. The food and drinks were awesome. I’d definitely recommend any of the margaritas and the tacos. The shrimp and grits deserve a special shout out—they were seriously so good.

I’ve been to shark bar a number of times but I felt inclined to leave a review after an exceptional meal this evening. The food, ambiance, and hospice were exceptional and our family left very impressed. The recent addition of the sushi bar upstairs is a great touch, the culinary artist Chef James is outstanding at his craft. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious family friendly restaurant in Wrightsville Beach. Also, I want to give a special shoutout to our amazing server Brian, he amicably catered to all our needs with sharp professionalism. Without a doubt we will be returning at our earliest convenience!

The new sushi bar opened upstairs is stellar. Great happy hour and awesome appetizers. Visit once and you’ll be hooked. Also…..firecracker shrimp. You’ll thank me.

If I could give this place 100 stars, I would. It was SO GREAT!! They just started doing sushi and it’s amazing – the fresh fish and creative ways they are putting rolls together is incredible. GO!!
Also oysters – we had those tonight too, along with 3 tacos and crab cake Sammy – everyone tried everything around the table all of it was stellar!! Service also fabulous- Brian took care of us mostly but everyone that came by was so friendly.

We were recently in town (Feb 2026) for our 5 year anniversary. We were looking for some good seafood, good oysters, and relaxation–Shark bar and kitchen is one of the gems on this side of the island. We went there looking for oysters and left with some incredibly pleasant surprises! They recently opened the upstairs to be more focused on sushi, with incredible 1/2 off daily deals–I’m talking about the real deal with nigiri, maki, and other specialty rolls. James and Bryan really took care of us, and we could tell that James took pride in his work of making incredible sushi for his customers. They were so hospitable and are looking forward to a busy season. Don’t miss out, you should definitely make this a pit stop on your tour of Wrightsville Beach!
