I was happy to see they went above and beyond regarding Covid precautions – our server wore a mask the entire time, and kept his distance from us when possible.
Everything on the menu is clearly marked vegetarian and gluten free when applicable, which is also helpful!
Shahrazad offers quite a selection for those who want great middle-eastern food on a tight budget. Ive had their Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, which is phenomenal, multiple times, which is my favorite, but they also have options if meat isn’t your forte, for one reason or another.
Affordability, especially in our modern day, is unfortunately waining and ceasing to exist as a concept. No longer is this the case. A filling meal, if you know what you’re doing, will run you anywhere from $9-$17, and believe me, one sandwich is enough.
Overall, if you’re craving middle-eastern, then look no further!
What we ordered:
Lentil Soup: when they say “PERFECTION” in the menu description, they are not exaggerating! Creamy, savory, a touch of smokiness, if I have to die, dump me in a vat of this soup so I can drown in it.
Yalenjee: Not Greek dolmades! These grapeleaves are fried! AND SOOOO flavorful, packed with seasoned rice and yumminess. Squeeze the lemon over it, you will not be sorry.
SHAHRAZAD COMBO: which has a LOT, we split it between 2 “big eaters” and we couldn’t finish!
Kabob, tender with a nice charr
Kefta, THE STANDOUT STAR! we both loved this one, particularly with a little lemon on it
Taouk chicken was mildly seasoned with a hard char that gives you a real flame grilled, out in the country type feel
Shawirma, gently seasoned, perfectly cooked
Baklava: rich walnut filling and flaky pastry. I loved that this version was not dripping with syrup and oversweet. It was light on top and dense on bottom, not too spicy but you can taste the cinnamon. we also split one between us.
This was a very satisfying meal, we are already daydreaming about what we will order next <3
But my boyfriend had the gyro and the first red flag was how the meat looked compared to other spots, but he ate it anyway despite better judgement as he didn’t want to waste his money. He was throwing up last night after eating the gyro meal. We won’t be coming back sadly. I know things happen but yeaaaaaa no. Bad first experience
