The pizza was very good. We also ordered some toasted raviolis and they were the best toasted ravioli’s I ever had. Originally imos is my favorite spot in the lou to get pizza and toasted raviolis but Serra’s Pizzeria is pretty close to beating imos. I would highly recommend going here and checking it out. Food was great the only downfall is the place could be a little more updated. Other then that good experience and good service.

Let me say that Serra’s Pizza did NOT disappoint! Pizza that you dream about, brought me back to my younger years when pizza places made pizza like Serra’s! Highly recommend!! We had a long wait of over an hour for the pizza but was worth every minute we waited. Busy, busy Saturday night, they should be!

Waited 1:15 for pickup, delayed an extra 30 minutes after arriving on time, then without mentioning it they up-charged 20% from what’s advertised on website for what turned out to be an undercooked, raw bottomed pizza.
If you’re going to mess up every other aspect of your business, at least cook the pizza through.

Modest looking place with a laid back vibe. But the pizza is amazing. Tons of toppings on the perfect mix of cheeses with the ideal St. Louis style crust. Salad and toasted ravioli were fine but the pizza was a standout.

Serra’s Supreme pizza was great! It had flavorful toppings.Substituted mozzarella for provolone.Meat sauce on spaghetti was excellent.I also got lasagna(8),manicotti(ch)w/white sauce(8),chicken Parm(8.5).I believe they’re short handed, but waitresses were doing their best.I am coming back for the spaghetti w/meat sauce most definitely.

Hold up, this is super crazy!!! This place is the most unassuming off the beaten path pizza joint with roots in Sicily. And you know it when you stuff that food in your face hole!! I am not a pizza guy, but there pizza is amazing and no wonder its voted best in St Louis. I ordered quite a bit and am happy with it all, especially the baked Lasagna. I cant rave about this spot enough. And all the recommendations the server gave me were 100% perfect. 10/10 must try this place….

After reading the 1 star reviews, I will have to come in defense of this great and unique STL pizza experience. I grew up in the area, and everyone local absolutely loves their pizza.

Yes, there is a long wait and yes, this is a family gathering spot, but the Serra family comes first. They are closed on Monday (family gathering night) and Papa Onofrio Serra didn’t care much, as he knew how much the community loved his pizza recipe, the unique recipe shared with his brother Nick (of Nick and Elena’s fame in Overland).

He was gruff (“we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone” it said on the early one-page paper menu) – he left the niceties for the women who were always kind and gracious despite being worked to the bone.

I remember riding my bike at age 11 to his one-man pizza place. Serra’s operated out of a very tiny space in a lonely strip mall in north St. Louis county, on the very top of what later became part of Maryland Heights. You would walk in and there was one small table and two chairs (for waiting). A square hole was cutout and a young, sweating Mr. Serra (RIP) would appear, always in his clean white t shirt.

He worked alone then (mid 1970’s), a proud man serving a product that he was proud of. I would walk my bike back home, carefully holding the pizza with my right hand, balanced so that the melting lava would not pool to one side or the other. It was only slightly warm, and half of it was stuck to the underside of the lid by the time I got home, but we didn’t care. I can eat this stuff cold the next morning, scraped off the underside of the top of the box.

This is the traditional Sicilian recipe that Imo’s tries and doesn’t quite get right. The hour plus wait is something that we locals come to expect. There is a reason for the wait. We show early and wait for this pizza to come out of the oven; hot, melty and crispy.

They use the very best meats, always seasoned perfectly. The “cracker thin” crust is perfect; not doughy, not the main feature, but the foundation. The sauce is on the sweet side, the perfect marinara, and they always have the right blend of sauce and cheese on the pizza. And that cheeeeze. You either like it or you hate it.

Locals understand Provel cheese, and we love it on salads, pizza, everything. It is not provolone. It is a special blend, some compare it to Velveeta in consistency, maybe also a hint of swiss and cheddar. No, nothing like any of that; I think it defies description. It is absolutely the best when served melted like flowing lava. If you are expecting mozzarella, you will be disappointed.

So, save your complaints. There is only one Serra’s and the wait is justified because people come from all over the county for this food. Any comparison to chain pizza places is just an opinion from someone who didn’t really try it. If you want to know how good it is, ask a local. Or order it at 4:00 and arrive at five. Standing room only, here. If you are lucky enough to sit while you wait, you feel like part of the family.

We came in about 7pm to dine in and there were at least 6 people waiting at the door for take out orders. We considered leaving but the two guys near us said it was worth the wait. We sat and the waitress said it would be 1.5 hours if we wanted a pizza so we ordered pastas. Yum! We found out later in the evening that this place was well known in the area for their pizzas and we should call an hour ahead of our arrival.

My Mother in law ordered a sausage pizza to go for my son and brought it home and it ended up being pepperoni and mushrooms. Fine mistakes happen. I drove the 25 minutes up there to switch it out. What makes me angry is that I asked if they had to throw the other pizza away and instead of just offering me to keep the wrong pizza (as I would eat but my son wouldn’t), they offer to sell me the stone cold pizza for half price. My MIL already spent over 2 hours there waiting for her own pizza and then an additional 30 minutes for this pizza that ended up wrong and she added to her order 20 minutes before her pizza was served. Customer service is lacking. The pizza couldn’t be resold and it was going to be thrown away so was a waste and totally rude to try have me pay half price for THEIR mistake. And I wouldn’t have drove 25 minutes (50 minutes round trip) to scam a $17 pizza so that doesn’t makes sense either. It probably cost me more in gas.

We ordered the zucchini sticks first – they smelled and tasted great. The wings looked decent, but there was no crispness to them.

The pizza took a while, but when it showed up, it had a great appearance and the edge pieces were nice and crisp, with a good flavor. The center pieces weren’t as crunchy as we ordered the cheese mix and got more cheese than we expected.
