Selva offers innovative, intricately prepared dishes, plated and presented as works of art. Selva has earned raves from allover the world, including from the New York Times, which write that Selva is “serving possibly the best food in Sarasota,”and that “everything on the menu is worth trying.”
Mixology has also always been a prominent focus at Selva. Our mixologists are always trying new and different flavor pairings. It keeps it fun and makes what we do here feel like we are all adding our stamp to the Selva concept. Stop in and try our latest concoction Fire and Ice. Cheers
With cool-blue undertones, flowing draperies, and warm lighting, the lively space is, simply put, enchanting.

I want to express my sincere thanks to Selva Grill Downtown, and specifically to Michael, whom I believe is one of the managers. My wife and I were treated to one of the most truly exceptional dinner experiences anywhere on our recent visit to Sarasota. We enjoyed Selva so much on our first visit 2 years ago, we made sure to plan dinner there again despite the vast array of restaurant options in the Sarasota area. The flavors are complex and delicious. Some places try this and don’t pull it off, but Selva exceeded our expectations on every single item we tried. We sat outside by the warm heaters on a cool February evening, but the inside has a beautiful cool vibe. My sea bass was the most perfectly cooked I have ever had. The Chocolate mousse pot has a blend of chocolates, fresh fruit and exquisite flavors. Despite all this, the real capper was Michael tending to our every need despite having a tough night. The computers were down, so the billing and credit card payments weren’t working, but more importantly, Michael had an employee who had to be taken by EMS from the restaurant after having a serious medical issue inside. He was noticeably shaken and we initially sat quite awhile not knowing why no one was attending to us. Eventually though, he made sure to correct the initial oversight of us sitting unattended and gave us an exceptional experience. Michael and his staff ultimately took excellent care of us. My only gripe is that he apologized for not giving us the “Selva experience” and I am here to tell everyone, he is incorrect in that. We truly had an exceptional experience, and we very much appreciate it. Can’t wait to dine again whenever we visit again.

Delicious, recommend.
Meal starts with thin plantains and corn chips which were yummy and unexpected.
The ceviche trio was good, white fish was a favorite with it’s fresh citrus flavors. Aji de gallina spring rolls were a top favorite, flavorful but also the presentation was cleverly placed in a glass with sauce as the drink.
Place was cozy but a little loud, otherwise great, will return.

Selva Grill, located in downtown Sarasota, is a very welcoming restaurant that offers an excellent dining experience. The food overall is very good, with well-balanced flavors and beautifully presented dishes. Personally, I would describe the cuisine as Peruvian-inspired, especially dishes like the ceviche, which was delicious and perfectly prepared.
The cocktails were also excellent, well crafted and full of great flavor combinations. We went for a couple’s dinner—my husband, our baby, and I—and we felt very comfortable. The atmosphere is ideal both for a romantic night out and for a relaxed family dinner.
The restaurant has a warm, modern ambiance, and the customer service was very good—attentive, friendly, and always making sure we had a pleasant experience. We were able to enjoy a well-thought-out and varied menu, which made the visit even more special.
This is definitely a restaurant worth visiting, and one we would happily return to.

This is a definitely one of the best restaurants in Sarasota. We never miss an opportunity to eat at Selva whenever we attend the Sarasota Opera. Within walking distance whether before or after a performance. Great service, beautiful restaurant; but most important, delicious and original dishes!!

The Caesar salad with Manchego and plantains is a standout. It’s familiar but elevated in a way that actually works.
The truffle fries were excellent crisp on the outside, soft in the center, and generously finished with shaved cheese and herbs.
Everything we ordered tasted as good as it looks. Beautifully plated, flavorful, and consistently well-executed.

I have always appreciated Selva downtown. Its a great dining experience and one of my favorites. I only have 4 stars for food and atmosphere because really very little has changed. Short ribs are fantastic, drinks are great. But after 3.5 years I already know what’s going to be on the menu. I already know what my favorites are. I did get a tiger shrimp flatbread as an appetizer my last visit, as it was a special. It was really good but nothing exciting. There is something to say about consistency. But, for the price I would like to see maybe some seasonal menu changes or maybe some more daring flavors from what I already know is a very capable kitchen. Show us some excitement! I prefer the downtown location more than the UTC location. Even though I live only a few minutes away from UTC.

Top notch! Fresh and perfect! We had many different drinks, ceviche, steak empanadas, short rib spring rolls, filet mignon, surf and turf, ahi tuna, and seafood risotto. Perfect from beginning to end.

Will return for service and food, which we’ve
Wild ceviche
Rib spring roll
Crab cake
Parihuela
Chick spring roll
All are delicious, especially the crab cake, and appetizingly presented. The Oxford Landing and Broadbent are similar in taste and yummy. The Schott Zwiesel glasses have water stains. The on-the-house cancha corn kennels, plantain, and green sauce are delicious: thank you.
We pass by this Peruvian restaurant many times and have no desire to go in because it looks dark. And it’s dark. Fake orchid in the bathroom. Our server is a middle-aged lady who’s the best, appears and disappears on the dot.

This place is amazing. The best time to go is definitely in the off season, summer. Not very busy and allows you to spend more time enjoying the atmosphere. Food is 5 star. The Skirt Steak is amazing. My girlfriend said her Salmon was cooked to perfection. Definitely going back.
