I ended up going there by mistake and found a place that quickly made it to the top of my list for shore dining. Atmosphere, service, & food were all top notch. Prices were high end, but appropriate for a fantastic dining experience. They have a very nice wine list, as well as a full service bar. The dress code is very casual, they’re open year round, and they accept credit cards. I can’t wait to go there again.

This place is always solid for us. Great food and drinks. It’s a little bit overpriced but it is Avalon. We’ve always had friendly service. Love the salad bar and entrees always good. Had a dry baked potato once and another side that wasn’t great. But overall it’s a great place to get a good meal any time of the year.

Seated promptly and food delivered to table with in a reasonable time on New Years Eve. Everything is a la carte and gets pricey. Waitress was attentive. Dessert of Apple crisp was not good considering they only have 3 choices. Missed any apple flavor.

This spot in the heart of Avalon is a must for a night out. The waiter only had to mention “Fire On the Mountain” and I was sold. This was probably the best, if not tied for first place, Filet Oscar I’ve had. I liked that ordering was a bit different than normal as well and you have the chance to give your order directly to the chef. I definitely recommend going here.

I always come here when I go to the beach. Very expensive. Interesting ordering system, where you go up to the kitchen window and tell the cook what you want. Entrees don’t really include sides. Salad bar is out of this world. Cool atmosphere.

Went in to inquire about a late dinner, and was greeted by an upset host that clearly did not want us to stay and asked us to “order immediately”….when we asked for a menu, she abruptly pointed at the chalk board where the food options were displayed. That was enough to make us understand we were not welcome.

Pretty expensive place to get a steak, and baked potatoe. Kids menu three grilled shrimp and French fries, 21.95. The wait staff was great and interesting to order your food yourself at the kitchen window. To me a little overpriced, but what do your expect in mid August four blocks from the beach. I would go back..

So the format is very different from any restaurant I’ve ever been to. However the steak (though expensive) rivaled some of the best steak houses I’ve ever been to. Incredible food. Will definitely come back. Highly recommend to anyone who loves steak.

Went there last night (11/3) and after waiting at least five minutes for the hostess to get to her station, was amazed to see her nod at us and pick up the phone to take a take out order. For what this place charges, you think they would train her to say ‘hold please’, seat us and be back to the phone in less than a minute. Instead she made us wait another 4-5 minutes while she struggled with the phone order. Afterward there was no apology, just a ‘can I help you”. Hmmm, what could we possibly want? I had to bite my tongue and fight the urge to turn around and walk out. It was a pretty far drive and we were hungry. It was 7 pm on a Friday night and the restaurant was maybe 25% full. After being seated and then ignored for another 5 minutes we decided to move to a table that didn’t have an AC vent right above it and was in the area where a waitress was. As we got up, the hostess came walking up to us so we explained that the air was blowing on us and asked if we could move. She basically sneered and threw up her hands – as if it was a busy night and we were messing up her seating chart. We moved ourselves anyway. It was by no means busy and never did get much busier. Well, maybe for our waitress, a dark haired woman who seemed to be covering the whole room while two other blonde waitress passed thru intermittently. While at the kitchen window placing our order with the chef (which really ticked me off but that’s another story) one of the blonde waitresses pushed her way in front of us to tell the chef that the take out order people hadn’t arrived yet. The chef clearly gave her a look that she was being rude. Dinner was good, but $34.95 for a 6 oz filet on a plate all by itself is criminal. Two people, 2 glasses of house wine, dinner (filet and flounder plus twice baked potatoes) and desert was $180. Our waitress was really nice but the two to three minutes she spent carrying our food and drinks was not worth the $30 tip. Maybe the restaurant would have more customers if the pricing was more in line with the fare and they replaced the nasty hostess and lazy, rude blonde waitresses. Next time we’ll head to the Windrift.
