Social Profile:

Amazin’ Grill is where our journey began and it’s still unfussy, adventurous, and all about the food and the experience. Now famous for Navy Cove Oysters harvested directly from our farm in Navy Cove Bay (just two miles away), our commitment to quality continues to include a variety of tasty, made-from-scratch recipes. When the ship bell rings, hollerin’ is expected. Trade jokes with our friendly staff…jam with the host musicians, or grab an instrument and mic and sing like no one is listening! There’s no extra charge for havin’ fun. At the end of the day, nothin’ beats a friendly smile, good music, and great tasting affordable food.

This colorful, beach-themed joint with live music features seafood plates & tropical cocktails.

This place was highly rated by Google and came up on my Google feed several months ago and I’ve been wanting to try it ever since. We finally got to the area and decided to try it for their Navy Cove Oysters. We drove 20 miles to the location, we arrived and were told to sit anywhere we’d like, as the waitress was working by herself. She had a great attitude and was as helpful as she could be under the circumstances. By the time other help arrived 30 minutes later, we were able to place our order. We ordered the raw oysters and were told they were out of them (due to a storm and they couldn’t get them from Navy Cove-so, not their fault). We were bummed but it wasn’t a deal breaker so I decided that since I was at the “Sassy Bass” I would try their sea bass—- they were out of it. So I opted for the fish tacos. We ordered the jalapeno hush puppies, and the crab crostini as appetizers. My husband ordered the red snapper. The crab crostini was mostly bread with a bit of semi-dry crab on top, nothing to write home about. The jalapeno hush puppies were good (not worh the drive for them alone though). My fish tacos were underwhelming at best so I just didn’t bother wasting the calories by eating them. I tried my husband’s red snapper, it tasted better than the fish in my tacos, but it was nothing extraordinary either. My husband referred to it as the worst red snapper he’s ever had, his mashed potatoes were dry, but the creamed corn was good. I’m disappointed that we drove so far to slap $100 down plus a tip for such a disappointing experience. Maybe they were just having a bad day but I will not go back to find out.

We came in as a group of four, influenced by the strong overall rating on Google, but ended up regretting it. While older reviews appear glowing, recent ones probably give a far more accurate picture—and based on our visit, they are.

What went wrong:

The food was just mediocre.

Some dishes were over-salted (including the mahi-mahi) while others had virtually no seasoning, so there was no consistent standard.

The grilled snapper was disappointing: it was drowned in a sweet sauce that felt like a camouflage for poor cooking technique.

The mashed potatoes were decent, but the street corn was so bad it felt like it should have been tossed onto the street.

The building and dining room are showing signs of neglect — peeling paint, worn furniture — and the overall maintenance absolutely falls behind what you expect for the price.

It feels like the business is coasting on good reviews from the past and a convenient location rather than offering a strong dining experience today.

Bottom line:
For the price and hype, this place underdelivered. Unless major improvements happen, I can’t recommend it. I hope it can bounce back, but based on our visit, it’s not worth the detour right now.

During stay in Gulf Shores we ate at the Sassy Bass Amazing Grill twice. I had had enough seafood so the first night I had the fried chicken sandwich. It was huge and very good. The second night I just had a cheeseburger which was also very good. The other guys I was with had all you can eat crab legs. And they looked awesome and must have been cause our guys ate their share. Great food at this restaurant.

Overall, we loved it! I had the Super Rooster and it was fantastic! The chicken was tender and the seasoned breading was very good. The portions were generous and most of us had to ask for to-go boxes because the portions were actually a bit too much! We’re already talking about coming back! Update, we did go back. We ended up eating here 3 times during our vacation and we enjoyed it each time!

Simply delicious food, there is some true talent in the kitchen and my party of four was so appreciative we’re going right back again. Drinks, are off the charts great too while staff was friendly and attentive. Just a great experience all around and gets my highest recommend.

Cute lil beachy/island vibe. Bright colors. Our waitress was fantastic. Only complaint was music is lil loud inside & out. We decided to sit outside on patio. We were thankful that they turned outdoor speakers off bc local musician started playing and it wasn’t as loud. Food was fantastic. Street corn wasn’t a good as I expected.

This was a very sad and disappointing evening. I ordered the brisket tacos and I was served 3 tacos that were literally ALL FAT! The tacos were in a flour tortilla with DRY cabbage with spicy thousand island concoction on top, then “brisket “ (FAT) drenched in bbq sauce, a very strange and unappetizing combination! Very poor service. Waiter didn’t fill drinks without us flagging her down. Didn’t check back with us after meals came to see if all was good. Flagged her down again to have her take the tacos away. Pretty sure it was a one and done going there experience. Live and learn.

My sister and I stayed at the Airbnb behind the restaurant for a week back in August and we had the best time. Brandy was very accommodating, helpful & just super sweet. The waitress, Madison was so great and the food was amazing. We will definitely be back! Also, my sister had the bushwhacker and she said it’s the best one she’s ever had! If you’re ever on Fort Morgan, you have to go here. Thank y’all for the best week ever!

I used to date my life as before and after Sassy Bass. If I ever had to choose my last meal on earth, it would have hands down been the Signature Catch. For years, the anticipation of dinner at Sassy Bass got me through many a harsh winter as I counted down to my annual Gulf Shores vacation. The atmosphere, the friendly and fun staff, and the food have reached almost mythic status in my mind.

Unfortunately, my most recent visit brought that magic crashing down. My entree was nothing like I remember. The vegetables were mushy, the rice was hard, and the biggest disappointment of all was the crab sauce, which was thin and runny. I’ve obviously come to expect great things from Sassy Bass, but I would have rated this meal poorly at any restaurant, especially for the price. The only silver lining is that the key lime pie is still excellent.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think Sassy Bass may now be just a fond memory. 🙁

We came here for Mondays all you can eat crab legs. Let me start with I love anything crab and have had plenty of it. I don’t know what happened or if it was just an off day for the cook but I could barely get through 2 legs. They were absolutely horrible, no flavor at all. Our guess is they were cooked in plain water then seasoned, really don’t know but I’ve never tasted crab like that. My husbands were the same way so it wasn’t just a cluster thing. The potato’s weren’t seasoned either. Thankfully they were understanding and removed them from our bill. We did get two mixed drinks and they were just ok.
