Sam’s Southern Eatery was founded on an idea of bringing great Southern cuisine to the people. We wanted to be able to serve our special recipes and show the restaurant business that you can have amazing flavor and huge portions, all at a very reasonable price! In 2008 we opened our first location in Shreveport, Louisiana; we have now grown to over fifty-one locations in nine Southern states with over 750 employees. Offering high quality food, healthy eating options, and generous portions at competitive prices is what drives our success.

My first visit from Cali to Norman.
Drove my 92-yr old friend to Fred Jones Art Museum & this was her choice for late lunch.
Insanely friendly, attentive, generous service by James–thank you!
We shared the special Special (5 strips of catfish, hush puppies + 2 sides) and order of 3 fish fillet (grilled)–wanted to inhale it all, but too much, enough for dinner, too.
Topped off by delicious peach and apple pies–she esp loved these.
My senior friend, who lives here in Norman now, loved the whole experience, too. That says a LOT.

Every time I go in here the staff working are always friendly. I did a take out order this time and it was ready when I got there and made sure I had enough sauces etc. All the times I’ve gone, the food has been great and they always give you a good portion and I haven’t been able to finish it all yet so you’re getting your money’s worth. I always get the 3 fish and 3 shrimp with fries and hush puppies and always enjoy it. They have a nice selection on their menu which is cool.

Deee-licious! Food, service, atmosphere & pricing is fantastic! I just wanna say for those eating low-carb, there are plenty of options on the menu. I got a grilled platter of chicken, fish and shrimp with green beans & Coleslaw. Everything on the menu is delicious. Their rice and beans are the best. My husband got the five piece fried fish. Pictures below. We will definitely be frequenting here!

I really don’t like getting food to go, especially fried food, which is always better fresh out of the oven……but…..my husband was sick, so I went and picked it up. What an amazing meal!! The catfish, shrimp, and fried okra were so tasty and their “Sam’s sauce” is incredible. Definitely our new “go to” restaurant…..just sorry we waited so long to try it out…..thank you Lisa, we will be back for sure!!

The fish, fries, hush puppies, and red beans and rice were all phenomenal! Our server was awesome! Super helpful and took amazing care of us!! Some of the best fish and atmosphere uou can ask for! And very affordable! Family of 5 ate for a little over $50 and we ate our fill! Cant wait to be back soon!

Approached instantly for seating, very friendly, a little too hurried,hadn’t had but a minute before asking if ready to order This was our first time so wasn’t familiar with items offered and there are a lot of options to consider! Very clean and oddly decorated but in a fun way,except electrical box where we sat was weird, I’d consider a hazard if I had a child sitting there. Food tasted freshly made, hot and well seasoned. This order is their new Alligator Bites special. The meal cost $21.99. Unfortunately, the plate of food in regard to quantity for the price was an extreme let down. The fries were good and crispy! The alligator bites themselves tastes like they were dropped in hot sauce as the “seasoning” (the breading was good), some were chewy and/or dry, the bite sizes were very inconsistent, and didn’t give the taste of real alligator. Unfortunately, as a result, my stomach started to hurt shortly after eating a few. This review is solely on the Alligator Bites special. The customer service was great! This is a perfect example of “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” We were looking for a diner while we were visiting Norman. This place popped up and had a ton of great reviews. So we decided to give it a try. When we pulled up, there was one car in the parking lot and it almost looked like they were closed. We were skeptical that this place was going to be good but decided to go ahead and give it a try. Which, I’m so glad we did. The food was excellent. We had the grilled and fried shrimp which were cooked perfectly. We also got the burger and fries which were really good as well. The service was great. Everyone made us feel right at home. We look forward to many more visits here when we come to town for OU games.

We thought the food was amazing. It was our first trip. The food was hot. You always love fresh food. We enjoyed all our food. The service was great. Jules was awesome! She kept coming over to make sure we had everything we need. I was nervous to try the establishment as I’m picky about food. I’m glad we did. Loved it!
