From the moment I walked in, I appreciated the wonderful aroma and the authentic Texas Steakhouse atmosphere. My server, was outstanding—very knowledgeable about the menu and consistently attentive. I particularly valued her excellent recommendations.
I ordered the ribeye steak and the ribs. The steak was cooked perfectly and was incredibly juicy with great marbling. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone perfect. I also chose the upgraded Smoked Cheddar Macaroni and the Truffle Fries, which were definitely worth the added cost. The mac and cheese had the perfect amount of cheese, and the truffle fries were surprisingly crispy with just the right seasoning.
Since it was my first time visiting and I mentioned I was from out of town, the manager, stopped by my table. She was extremely polite and offered me a complimentary appetizer for my next visit. She also informed me that all breads, soups, dressings, and desserts are made from scratch daily, which is a remarkable commitment to freshness and quality that I truly appreciated. When I realized I had forgotten to add upgraded mushrooms to my steak, the staff handled the change quickly and easily.
I was already planning to write a review when the manager asked me to, and I highly recommend Saltgrass. I would certainly encourage anyone to visit and enjoy a steak or anything else from their menu. Everything I had tasted wonderful.
Fried pickles and Peppers ️ appetizers was hot and came out in a timely manner and was exceptionally delicious.
The strawberry spinach salad was delish.
The bad:
The country fired steak was a tad bitter. The ribs seemed a bit stale
The Ugly:
1 hour 15 min wait time on a Saturday night. That is ok, I was informed about it and made the choice to wait. What I didn’t like was that once we were seated the service was exceptionally slow, and our potato soup was forgotten. Total time spent was about 3 hours including the wait time.
I got it okay and it was so burnt I could not eat it. They did not put dressing in one salad. They did not give us the cocktail sauce for our fried shrimp. They did not give us butter for our bread. And the food was extremely cold. I am so disappointed in SAltgrass Pearland. My daughter used to work for Landry’s Corp. And Saltgrass had declined over the years.
We arrived at 5:30 pm and did not receive our first appetizers until 6:45 pm. It began with drink orders that were prepared incorrectly. A dry martini came out the opposite of requested, and a Maker’s Mark Manhattan was served over ice and completely watered down. To the staff’s credit, the drinks were corrected, but that process took about 30 minutes.
I was ordering from the gluten free menu due to food sensitivities. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, only to be told nearly half an hour later that there was an error on the menu and the restaurant did not actually have shrimp cocktail available. This left me with only one appetizer option, which unfortunately contained cheese and was pre made, so I could not eat it. The kitchen did make an exception and prepared crab meat for me, which I appreciated.
There was also a concerning safety incident when one of my son’s appetizers was brought out in a very hot skillet and the tray was handed directly to him. He was thankfully not burned, but it was a very close call. The plate was taken back to add a handle protector, and then the appetizer was forgotten entirely. I had to remind the staff, and it ultimately arrived at the same time as his entrée.
Throughout the night, Cedric continued trying to correct issues as they arose, but the problems kept stacking up. We did not receive our entrées until about 7:30 pm. By that point, my children were exhausted, and I ended up leaving early with them while the rest of the party stayed.
I ordered the red snapper prepared gluten free from the main menu, and I want to note that it was excellent. Truly delicious, and unfortunately the only real bright spot of the evening.
The server and manager made efforts to make amends, including comping a glass of wine and offering dessert on the house, which was appreciated. Still, after such a long wait and so many missteps, it was hard for those gestures to offset the overall experience.
I believe the staff genuinely cared and was doing their best, but the operational issues made this a very challenging and disappointing night out.
This restaurant was a perfect mid priced lunch spot. The waiter, “Darius” was pleasantly professional and attentive. The food was very well prepared and tasty.
We’d definitely return for a that special luncheon or evening meal. Soothing atmosphere as well.
Things will get worse, this will make 2008 look like Candyland so go out to eat while you still can, because the prices will rise and quality will continue to plummet until they go out of business as many are! Small business owners like myself haven’t been in business for awhile so I know this too well. 2026 has a long list of changes and this economy and bad jobs report will all signal the end to the US as a whole. It wasn’t too busy and no restaurants are packed like they used to be. They did better than most and well returning soon.
