Favorite place in Madison ~ delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend the chicken satay and the laab.

Interesting restaurant! Looks just like a house on a corner that turned into a restaurant. Street parking, otherwise I think behind/next to the building there a tiny space (not sure if it’s for employee or customers).

Sala Thai has really good food. Really happy to have them in the neighborhood and I particularly like their Sunday special — and other things I have gotten have been good as well. Good spice, flavor, and portions. Where they lose a star is their service/speed. I saw another review where they assumed they only start cooking once they open, and I feel like that may be accurate. Now, I’m not expecting this to be fast food, but if you get a take-out estimate, you probably should double the time before you expect the food. That same logic probably applies to in-restaurant dining. Be prepared to wait. If you have the expectation that the food won’t be ready for an hour twenty minutes, instead of forty like they say, then maybe it’ll be easier to get to five stars. Definitely recommend for the food, but adjust your understanding of time before heading in.

I went here a couple weeks ago. I wanted to like the Pad see ew but it was inedible. Mushy noodles and the soy sauce was not caramelized and was sour. The spring roll sadly had a living buzzing fly/bee in it which made it hard to have an appetite. They did give us a new one but still charged. The cleaning of our table was quick and awkwardly my boyfriend had food brushed onto him. Wanted to like it. I could say more but I’ll keep it at that. Hopefully this is a very odd experience for this place but I won’t be back.

Great, authentic Thai restaurant with some very tasty food. We tried the spring rolls, Tom Kha soup and Chicken Curry. Very good.

Very good food, but they desperately need more staff. When I went, it was cash only. With only one other table, it took ten minutes for them to get our order and another twenty five to fourty to give us the food.

The best Thai food on the East side. They have Tod Munh, which a lot of places don’t make. They don’t mess around on the spice levels, so keep that in mind if you order a dish native spicy.

A small family-owned restaurant with great food! Service was a bit slow the last time we went, but the place was full, and they only had 1 server. This has not been the case on previous visits and we weren’t in a hurry. It was a wonderful meal. And so we’re the leftovers.

Rude and so spicy it was inedible. We stopped by with our children after the botanical gardens. Shortly after the food arrived the server told us our children had to leave because she could not work because they were giving her a headache. The kids were actually behaving quite well and I was appalled. The food was also extremely spicy even though we specifically ordered items that weren’t supposed to be spicy. Overall a terrible experience.

Ordered food at 5:30. Was told to come in at 6:30 arrived and was told it would take a few more minutes. It wasn’t a problem. Sat down next thing. I knew 45 minutes had gone by and I was still waiting for my food so in total it took an hour and 45 minutes to place it to go order and when I tried to explain that to her the lady behind the counter could care less. The worst part was it was my first time going there and all I heard was rave reviews on how amazing the food is. So at the end of the day I don’t care how good the food is. It is not worth waiting an additional 45 minutes on top of the waiting time you were told.
