I honestly did not know what to expect when 2 people from my work took me here. It has no frills. I actually respect that. The dish I had, while it looked a little more boring, was full of great flavor. It too had no frills. The tea was excellent and well balanced. I appreciated having additional pepper sauce at the table which helped bring my sweeter dish to its edge. I can understand how this place also reflects Eastern Market, its location. It is humble and definitely worth another go….especially since the prices are low.

This place is great! Their red curry dishes are amazing, beware of the spice level you order! The pad Thai noodles are great too! Pro tip: add red curry sauce to the noodles! The staff is friendly and attentive. And when you walk in for the first time, turn left to the dining area.

The food here is always amazing! It’s my favorite place for Thai food in all of southwest Michigan and one of my favorite sushi spots. The service is spotty though and usually I have to ask several times for things like refills or reminders for tea. The servers are never rude though and we’re always very happy with the food.

I’ve been eating here for 15 years and they are still as good possibly better than when I first had it. When I could finally hold food down this was the first thing my daughter had when she was in my belly. The prices have gone up understandably but they’re worth every penny. They’ve finally stop asking me if I’m sure I want it Extra Hot…I love it spicy!!! Hands down still the best Thai I’ve had.

One of my favorite places for great Thai food! Been for lunch and for dinner and never a wait. I’ve also ordered take out from them and it was great as well. Beware of the heat level of what you order and it goes vary sometimes. I think they have one of the best Tom Ka soup I’ve ever had and love that neat little Thai food health chart (pictured) of back of the menu.

Quaint, homey location in Eastern Market. They have gated parking and are next to a fire station right off Russell street.

Their plum sauce is awesome I love to even pour it over my F1 and the fried chicken is great there too! I came in on a busy Friday evening having never seen the place before. All by myself, I had planned to just take a seat at the bar. There wasn’t one so I felt a little bad for taking up a whole table. But my server and the rest of the staff could not have been more gracious and accommodating. I was starving after a long training swim so I ordered a soft Thai roll to start, followed by a large plate of sashimi. Everything was excellent. The fish was succulent beyond words. The service was attentive and sharp. To top it all off, rather than try to hurry me out to free up a table, the staff didn’t bring me my check until I asked for it. That old fashioned touch made me a fan. I’m so accustomed to poor service in most Detroit eateries that I hardly know how to behave when a place rolls out the welcome mat like Sala Thai.
