Staffs were friendly and attentive. Place was very quiet when we went. Pork ramen was very tasty! The tastiest I have tried in the east bay so far. Boyfriend also liked the chicken ramen but pork was really good. Will definitely come back again

I just got back from Japan and the quality and presentation of the food I had was amazing. The whole family was happy and the prices were more than fair.

This is an excellent family run restaurant that optimizes why Alameda is such a fun place. The food and atmosphere are always great, and when you just want a place you can be your go to, definitely pick Sakura.

the service is fantastic and the prices are quite decent but unfortunately decent is all we could say about the food. the sushi is forgettable, the only real variety is in the rolls and those are also fairly monotone and “safe”.
plus the atmosphere is diner-like and extremely basic.
Sushi House at the other end of Park Street has similar food but a more fun atmosphere at least and we don’t go there either. there’s just too much better Japanese fare in the East Bay.

Best veggie fried rice! Please support then! They have been opened for a long time but it would be nice to see more customers! They have known my family since I was a teenager. I like their chicken katsu and tonkatsu and takoyaki!

A great place with truly great people. I worked in Alameda for seven years and went regularly, always enjoyed chatting with Sonny and Michelle as well as the excellent food (the seafood salad is addictive, and the salmon “pizza” is a really fun dish). My work moved away and I just went back for the first time in two years, and they remembered me and greeted me by name. Really sweet, and truly caring people, who care about their customers and the food they serve. Wish I could still go every week!

Great that they are open on Sunday evenings when so many others are closed on Sundays.
We had a lot of rolls, and they were all wonderful and reasonably priced.
Great atmosphere in a modern setting, with lots of tables and warm lighting.

It’s ok. New owners had expanded the size of the restaurant. The new owners are Cantonese. The menu was like any regular restaurant.
The sushi was good. The tempura was mediocre. It was hot and oily. I don’t think it was double fried. It lacks the lightness of a tempura.
When the bill came, they charged us for 2 soups. Normally, in the authentic Japanese restaurant, the soup and salad came with the dinner. We did not ask for the soup.
That’s why I left with a 3 star instead of 4.

Ordered pick up from this place. They packaged the sake don (salmon over rice) in the same container with the salad and dressing, which spread to the rice and salmon. Not sure why they did not package it separately? I don’t know about other people, but I do not like salad dressing on raw salmon. Also the ginger and wasabi was covered by the salad/dressing they packed together, so I unknowingly ate both when I went to take a bite of salad – not good service. I’m assuming they tried to save money by not using an “extra” container, but they have lost me as a customer.
