First time trying hibachi in a while & this checked all the boxes. We went for my son’s second birthday & the chef picked out his favorite veggies & cut them up small for him! I’m no hibachi expert but I thought the food was really good + the portions were huge.

A great time was had at Sakura in Greenville SC. We were in town for a conference and decided on a group meal. We had no problem getting a table for 8 on a Saturday evening. The chef was friendly, funny and talented. The food and drinks were all quite good. Prices were reasonable and the food quantities were huge!

Let me start by saying my family comes here for almost everyone’s birthdays. We have for years. Always has been great. We’ll the past 2-3 times we have been here the service has been awful. It looks like our server this past time was taking care of everyone in the room and with that comes frustration, forgetfulness and just being human. Is there a lack of staff? Between our two tables (we were all together) the food was switched up from the start. Took 20 minutes to get drinks. Soup came out. Dinner was cooked and served. Then came salad. It was very disorganized. I say this knowing that we have a big crowd. However, we’re kind and friendly and good tippers too. SIDE NOTE the bartender had a little attitude going on when I requested for my sweet tea to be Togo. He took a long dramatic pause. I could have said it from the start, but that was my mistake. I’ve bartended for a while, it’s not that hard to conceal your facial expressions. To his defense, there was multiple parties coming in and nowhere to go but crowd up his bar space. Which we were still trying to order drinks from him though. Won’t be back. Its like this more times then it’s not.

Food was amazing! Chef was awesome and kept us laughing the whole time! The server wasn’t very attentive, and we had to flag her down for everything. She also kept messing up drink orders, even after we corrected her. Overall, it was a great experience and the food was awesome! We had the hibachi steak, chicken, and shrimp. Along with a few apps and sushi rolls. The Sakura roll is great! We will be back!

Terrible Experience. We went out for friends birthday dinner. We arrived at 9 pm outside the restaurant, we were aware they closed at 10. So we called them and asked if there would be a wait and if they could serve us they say yes, my friend then proceeds to say if they can serve 6 people because we know that’s a lot, the lady says yes yes yes. We go inside and sit down, our waiter has a very nasty attitude. Doesn’t introduce himself immediately says “order”. Drinks come out, and soup, salads took some time. By this time were the only ones in the restaurants. ( there were about 3-4 other tables when we came in.) So we’re starting to get hungry and it’s getting closer to 10. We see our cook being the tray out the back but then turns around, and he keeps doing this a few times. At this point we’re like okay what’s going on like it’s almost been a good 45 minutes to a hour. So he comes and we were laughing and he rudely goes “ what y’all laughing” at and then from there my friend was asking him why did it take so long for us to get someone out. She wasn’t rude about it, simple question. He starts saying thing back in a aggressive tone. He then proceeds to call my friend “rude” when she was trying to explain the situation. This is a grown man btw. All she was trying to do was explain what we were feeling and how it was our friends birthday so they could do the drum birthday song like they did for everybody else. He then says if your a “good girl” something all my those lines. Which is purely disgusting. He keeps saying how she is rude and being rude to her and our table in general. My other friend whom is one of the people we were celebrating speaks up and defends my friend and saying how she wasn’t rude he then starts going back and forth with her. To the point my friend gets up and walks out restaurant. The cook goes what’s wrong with her as if wasn’t the one that was unprofessional, he then proceeds to say he was joking and she took to seriously. Nothing about his tone was joking. Jokes are supposed to be funny, the situation was rude. After that he makes our food and seems to have a better attitude. Our waiter is still rude, only did one refill the whole time we were there. Again we called and asked to see if it is okay if we came at the time we did with 6 people don’t say yes then act like this, when you could’ve declined at the beginning. I told the lady in charge about our experience but she seemed like she couldn’t do anything. The food is also very bland for the customer service to be this poor.

I was totally looking forward to a nice steak fillet dinner only to be disappointed. The Soup tasted more like water with a few onions. Did not like, so did not eat it. Salad was ok. When the Fillet came out and put on the gill it looked more like chopped up beef instead of a fillet steak. After the “Fillet” was served I could only eat about 1/2 of it because of so much gristle. When you pay extra, $28, for a Fillet you expect a better cut of meat. After getting the bill, I noticed a 18% gratuity tax was added in, for just two people. After this experience we won’t be back. 🙁
